Alright then!

I just ordered these from the Flash Sale for $54.91...

Ministry of Fear
Anatomy of a Murder
The Rules of the Game

I initially started to order just Ministry of Fear and nothing else, but, after that came up to $21 with the shipping, I figured this was a good chance to shell out just over $30 more to get two more titles with the free shipping.

This extends the comfort zone of my wallet quite uncomfortably for the first two weeks of October until payday, but I'm good for it.
My planned order of Olive Films film noir titles will have to wait for a while longer.

I've seen all of the films but I love Fassbinder, but if you can wait - wait for the B&N sale.

Read the book before the film, if you get a chance, but they're both marvelous. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on those!

Good to know, thanks!

I may just hold off and ask for some of these sets for Christmas. I added all of the ones I'm missing to the cart for the hell of it and the total is $983!

Eh, I'll probably order a couple later (more than likely #1, #17, #32, #34, and #39).

is the B&N sale any better than the Flash for non-members?

You can use non-member coupons, I believe, so you have that working in your favor.

You might want to read Summer of Deliverance : A Memoir of Father and Son. It may just be better than the novel.

I just picked up:
The Spy Who Came in from the Cold
Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
Ivan's Childhood
Seconds
World on a Wire

Out of those, I've only seen Ivan's Childhood. I've read The Spy Who Came in from the Cold, so I'd like to compare the film to the novel. The other three are blind buys.

Amazon.com have a random selection of Blu rays prices around $20-25, might be worth checking out if you have Prime, and only want one or two films.

With my order of Ministry of Fear, I now have all of the real Criterion Blu-ray film noir titles from the 1950s. Woo hoo!

Anatomy of a Murder is close to the film noir genre, but it steps outside the parameters somewhat. I loved my DVD copy of this film, though, and it goes hand-in-hand with a lot of earlier films in my collection that are in the film noir era. I've heard that the Blu-ray upgrade is fantastic, and I've wanted this one for a while.

The Rules of the Game is one of those Criterions that I owned on DVD (the old blue digipak edition), and it was one of those titles with which it was just a matter of time until I upgraded. I'm looking forward to seeing the new transfer.

With today's order, though, I've just about licked the Criterion bowl clean as far as titles that I really want to have in my collection. One of these days, I'll get around to ordering the 10 or so titles that I still have not upgraded from my old DVD collection, but I really don't feel any big sense of emergency.

It feels good to look through the list of existing Criterion Blu-rays and realize that I've basically got everything that I really want.

Whether LD, DVD, or BD (and the DVDs and BDs are not interfiled) my Criterions are arranged by spine number. It just seems wrong to do it otherwise.

Decided to wait on the two new Ray releases and the Fassbinder set until the B&N sale in November.
