I never had HNWJ, nor the CLM Book, so I can't speak to the differences, but the content is amazing thus far. It does make me want to check out the book (if it includes other details). As for HNWJ, I might try to rent that from the library once I've gone through CLM.
HNWJ is a waste. It's too short and MOST of the screentime is too people that had nothing to do with the films.

But seriously...buy the book. It IS Amazing!!!! Took me awhile to read, but worth every penny.

Oh yeah, if I had it I'd still watch it but I also own the book so that's more than enough for me without hunting high and low for a version with this bonus disc. I guess this was only available through a certain website? Is there a lot more info on the first 4 films on this bonus disc or is it more for parts 5 and up?

The book is still the definitive source for information, remake aside. I'll just be echoing what some people have said already here and in reviews, but there was too much from "His Name Was Jason." It really shines through on the "Jason Lives" segment where the director almost looks like two different people when looking at the new and old interviews.

As far as absent people go, Steve Miner was a big one. Considering his career before and after in the horror genre, before being a PA on "Last House..." and after being an assistant on "Friday the 13th" he's played a somewhat underrated role in the horror genre and treats horror not as a black mark on his career, but seems to champion it considering he's still doing it, good or bad. Most recently he did the "Day of the Dead" 2008 version, I've never seen it so I can't comment on it.

Miguel Nunez, I believe someone else already said was a big disappointment that he didn't participate considering he did participate in the 2011 "Return of the Living Dead" documentary and he is a lively and funny guy. I mean I would've loved to hear him reminisce about getting killed in the shitter and all that singing he does.

Yeah no kidding. Even funnier, I don't remember the girlfriend in the movie being grossed out at all about him farting and having the shits as she stands right outside the door. But it's been awhile since I sat down for "A New Beginning."

there were a lot of people missing i wanted to see, but i understand because it's a huge franchise with a lot of actors. i've accepted we'll never see a kevin bacon interview about F13th. miguel nunez, Ali from part 3, renee jones from part 6(she's most known for Days of our Lives), steven williams, or kelly rowland(i'm sure that will never happen. she probably thinks she's too big for these things). i'm sure all of these people were asked, but either just didn't want to do it or have the time.

Steven Williams is in the book, I forget the reason why they couldn't get him for the documentary though. I can't remember for sure or not, but the last time Kevin Bacon was on Howard Stern he might have talked about being in "Friday the 13th", I know they discuss his early years where he was basically just a waiter in New York and still trying to get recognized for his "Animal House" role. That interview can be easily found on YouTube.

Agreed, I understand he wanted to try something new and from what he claims Cunningham said about getting rid of the mask, I can see why they did what they did. They do, both, seem to acknowledge that it probably wasn't the direction they should have taken the series.

That said, just finished the documentary and loved it. There's not much I can complain about as far as recycling His Name Was Jason segments. Even though, some of the interviews were taken from that footage, I don't really recall seeing anything that was, exact, duplicate footage of interviews, I still saw far more new stuff than old.

And my absolute favorite part of the whole documentary was the one little touch they added after the credits had rolled. The Friday the 13th Jason music from the Nintendo game, so awesome, I had a nerdgasm at the fact that they added that! What a great package!

I actually had a good laugh during "The New Blood" segment where the actress who plays the mom starts talking about Terry Kiser who plays the doctor in the movie and how he went on to stardom the very next year in a role where he didn't even have to talk, "Weekend at Bernie's."

Every time I think of Kevin Bacon and Ft13 I think of that opening scene of Animal House when he turns around and makes that revolted face at flounder. You can tell its the exact same expression he probably makes when people mention Friday the 13th to him. What a talented ashamed tool.
Some people think hes sort of coming around to finally accepting the notoriety...but I disagree. He made an appearence on Leno and took a couple questions about his role but I think he just went along.

Just finished the 7 hour doc, great documentary, I loved every minute of it and surprisingly learned a lot of new stuff (especially about F vs. J and the remake.)

Jeff Katz is responsible for that terrible piece of fan wank known as Freddy vs. Jason vs. Ash: Nightmare Warriors. As far as him not commenting on the New Line Friday films, I don't think he cares at all for JGTH and Jason X. In fact, it now seems that he was the person pushing for Kane Hodder to be replaced in FvsJ.

Wlliam Butler has done tons of interviews talking about Part VII, but was not in this documentary for some reason.

MIner just did his first ever horror convention, and doing his second at the big HALLOWEEN reunion in November. He has kind of been hidden before this. Had this doc took awhile longer to be made, I could have seen him doing it. Just bad timing I guess.

And yeah...I was at a huge Return Of The Living Dead Q&A and Nunez just owned it.
Oddly enough, they are doing a even bigger reunion at the Chicago DAYS OF THE DEAD convention next month, adding very rare James Karen and Clu G to the reunion...and Miguel is the only one MIA.

Bacon just talked to Leno about it during his RIPD press run. They showed his death scene and he said Friday The 13th pics are the usual things his signs from fans. He said he was glad he did it to start his career. I don't get that he hates the film at all...he just has a lot of things going still.
I met him after a Bacon Bros concert and he was great. Signed my FRIDAY poster no issues.
