What competition? It's freaking Star Wars!

The only reason why a delay is happening is because these guys are still not done with pre-production.

Even if Principal Photography begins in January, and that leaves them with barely 18 months to complete production and post production.

No matter how well you think J. J. Abrams will do a good job, that's very rushing for such a huge project. Disney has a lot to recover after investing $4 billion on the franchise.

Maybe Natalie Portman can do a cameo as a force ghost and explain how Leia remembers her in Jedi. Also Padme could apologize to Luke and Leia for being a terrible mother.

doesn't hold the power it used to after Episodes 1-3. It will dominate its opening weekend but after that, no guarentee anymore and you don't want it to open up inbetween big movies that will split the audience. I am surprised they are moving it so far back but then again, weren't the Special Editions released January-May? those still got a ton of business so it doesn't have to be a summer movie. I am cautios - something tells me that the one-off films are going to be better recieved than 7-9 will. I think people have an idea of what they want especially from reading the books so if they don't match up fairly close, people won't like it.

It's Star Wars and it will cross the billion dollar mark, but only if not released in between also hugely popular filsm like The Avengers 2, Jurassic Park, Superman vs. Batman, etc.

I think the possibility of a Star Wars film in summer 2015 is pushing it at this stage. A December 2015 sounds like a better period to produce the movie.

Disney has already delayed Pirates of the Caribbean 5, I don't see debt they wouldn't do not for Star Wars.

As much as I don't have much excitement over another Star Wars movie, I don't want this to suck. I will watch this in the cinemas in whichever format that I feel will be the most enjoyable, and I'll almost definitely get the Blu-ray on the first day of release.

Okay, I don't mean to go off topic here, buy why is everyone calling the Batman and Superman movie "Batman vs Superman" as if they're actually going to duke it out? And if they are, it would be a stupid idea, anyway.

That's summer BO in general anymore. The schedule is so loaded with tent pole movies most are lucky if they last more than 3-4 weeks at the local movie theaters.

That's why in the last decade the summer movie season starts in early May. Too much to fit in between the traditional time when it was Memorial Day through Labor Day.

We'll see if Marvel is still going strong in 2015. I really don't think JP4 is going to be special after the new Godzilla film next year. The only film that has my interest piqued for 2015 besides SW is the Batman/Superman project.

Why are you asking this in a Star Wars thread? Don't you think you would get better results asking it the "Superman & Batman" thread????

I actually think December would be a perfect time to release it. Idk why, it just seems to fit. Kind of like the Hobbit movies.

I am sure Star Wars Episode 7 will beat out Avatar at the box office. It just has too. The Phantom Menace made nearly 900 mil worldwide when it came out.

Sure. Release it in 2D, 3D, IMAX, IMAX 3D, Dolby Atmos, etc, anything with tickets that costs more than the usual prices.

It's Star Wars. It'll sell regardless.

I'll be seeing it whatever the critics say. Good reviews would be nice though.

If the film is good I think it will end up being the fourth biggest money maker behind Avatar, Titanic and The Avengers. I also think if The Avengers 2 is any good it will end up making more than the new Star Wars. So fourth or fifth.

Me second cousin's girlfriend's dog was offered a part to play in this movie as a flashback scene of baby Chewbacka. I was so hopeful!

I was offered a job in the lens flare department but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts.

Ha-Ha... that is a great pic.

I'm deadly seriously about my bro-in-laws job offer, though it might sound like BS... He turned it down, as it would mean a two year commitment, away from family, which he wasn't prepared to do, despite the money.

That's admirable, really.
