Seriously, a Fright Night II announcement from Shout would be beyond awesome. It'll definitely help invigorate this thread for a change.
It certainly would. FN part 2 has become almost the holy grail of scream wants and would definitley get this thread going again, i just think even if they do have it or any other major title they will wait till the end of the month anyway.

I think you missed the LoL J/K bit...LoL. I agree Fright Night 2 would be a stellar announcement.

I would like Poltergeist III at some point, but I'm fine with waiting for that one.

EDIT: Actually now that I think about it, with the news that the remake is full speed ahead, I wouldn't be surprised if Shout was able to release the original Trilogy next year to coincide with the remake.

Shout would have to make a deal with Warner for the first film. It's not entirely unthinkable I suppose but a trilogy set would be stellar.

You're the equivalent of the guy that yell's "FIRST!" and then says nohing else on every news post across the web.

For those wondering The Melting man is 11.99, and The Burning is the standard $15.99. Once again, free shipping on both titles..

I'd jump on a trilogy set in a skipped heartbeat (even though the third sucks pretty hard).

I enjoyed the 3rd one even if only out of nostalgia. When I was a kid mirrors scared the hell out me because of it. Especially considering putting mirrors on your closet doors and walls was a fashionable thing to do then.

I would imaging that Warner would put one out to coincide with the remake. Sort of like what they did with the Mad Max trilogy.

I just never did like it. It wasn't scary to me. One thing that got me really angry about it, though, was some person on YouTube who made a list of the scariest movies ever made (they had probably only seen about sixteen horror movies) and put on there Saw 6, Poltergeist 3, the remakes of The Hitcher and Friday the 13, and (an actual one) The Exorcist.

Or I'm just helping out to let people know what is available today. If I just wanted to be first to break the news I would have posted in both this thread and the movie deal thread.

"Ms. 45" and "Massacre at Central High" were almost "Scream/Shout!" titles, but were turned down when presented to the heads of the company.

"Halloween II", "Halloween III", and "They Live" are their highest sellers. "Lifeforce" is their highest seller on Amazon.

They also say "Fright Night 2" is in "rights limbo-hell." Cliff has went to 5 parties and no one claims they know. Paramount has TV rights, but no home video rights. They state they are aware it is a highly requested titled and they have been looking.

They also state fans aren't buying as much as they are talking/requesting. Mainly saying "Rolling Thunder" and "Ninja III: The Domination" were anticipated to sell well due to fans asking for them, but sales have only been "okay" to poor. "Deadly Blessing" also "did not perform to expectations."

Regarding "Psycho 4" they "just wanted to put out the theatrical films." They also say if they get another "in road" into Universal they have more requested titles such as the Wes Craven films.

Regarding fans on some of their transfers, Cliff acknowledges the people "who have absolutely nothing better to do in their life but get on the internet and say "this sucks." He says people are swearing "Phantasm 2" came from a VHS transfer and he even went back to Universal and they acknowledge it came from a high-def transfer.

Info from a new podcast with Jeff Nelson and Cliff - http://geeknation.com/podcasts/kille...ry-the-sequel/

Well Deadly Blessing just isn't that good a movie (IMO) and the other movies like Ninja III appeal to the some but not the many...these are films that Cliff and Jeff like but not necessarily an entire football stadium of people are going to like them
I am glad that they do release them because at least people who want those movies are getting them, but maybe not the more casual fan or those looking for the 9.99 sale on it...
I bet Vincent Price does really well for them though

It depresses the heck out of me to hear something that people have been requesting is selling poorly. Where are all these "fans" who supposedly want these movies?

I think this says more about BD catalog sales, in general, than anything Shout is doing/isn't doing right with these releases. It's why the limited edition model TT gets dumped on all the time is probably a more frugal and wise economic decision from a label's point of view. Lots of BD owners just don't understand the struggle it is to get catalog releases to sell in this format, and Shout isn't likely to continue releasing all of these if they're not turning a profit.

They might be, ultimately, better off moving to a limited copy model and selling directly through the Shout store. Less risk for them -- sucks for us, but it'd be better than seeing releases like these die away, which is the alternative.
