I think its an added advantage for the trading forum, I offer it, as there are no fees for receiving the money. I am sure more members pleased with it than disatisfied with it.Alot of people still use PayPal more.
I dont think someone needs to start a thread advertising their link, because what happens there is if one guy does it, then everybody does it and there are 50 Hot Deals threads promoting the same thing.
I do agree that RME should only be discussed in that persons trading thread offering to take that payment and not all over the forum. SO as a suggestion I would limit it to the traders forum and only in that persons thread. This would eliminate his issue and make everyone happy. This is a little different than the half.com coupons

I agree that is a somewhat solution.. but I see it in several trade threads being discussed.. normally by the same 2-3 people offering to sign them up.. and in the hot deals section as well -_-

Thats why I said just allow it in that persons trade thread, Its a good service I hate to see it killed. The 25.00 promo ends May 15, so its not like its permanant.

As long as it's in response to a legit offer or something, I don't mind seeing it on the actual forum a few times. Most of the time, however, it could easily be done in PMs but isn't.

I also think this one is complete crap and is pretty blatant advertising: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...23&postcount=4

It's not about what people think. It's about the rules.

If it's ok to advertise one outside site, then who decides which sites are ok and which aren't? Can someone do that objectively? Is that fair?

That's why rules are typically absolute in these cases. No one wants to deal with a murky grey area every time something comes up.

Either all advertising is ok in the trading forum, or none of it is.

Also- I recall someone immediately replying to my initial trade thread with a RME PM. I didn't know what they were doing right away, but now I understand. That was pretty annoying.

rules are rules but if its in my trade thread and you can click on it by choice and I am not forcing you to look at it, I think that should be fine, but of course a rules a rule.
I think the rules are to prevent the "spamming " of the site, which I admit happens when someone questions, What is RME? or starts a join thread.

When you click on a trade thread, thats a choice you made because of interest, thats what I am defending. I could care less about the 10.00 as i admit I haven't made much on that. Its a payment service I wanna offer, if its deemed inappropriate in the trade threads I will remove it and back to the PayPal only, not a problem

I think maybe we as a group need to lighten up a bit

I agree with jw on this one. I mentioned it in my trade thread as a way to help folks pay for the blu-ray's they were looking to buy from me. You can also just wait until someone pm's you to let them know that is an option. It's a win win as they get some funds to purchase the blu-ray's they might not be willing to otherwise and of course if they let you refer them you do get the 10 dollars. Either way even if they sign up on their own and get the 25 dollars it helps that person buy some movies (and helps us in selling them). my 2 cents!!

I agree here. I see it as a win-win. People get free money to buy movies and if they are going to join, why NOT use someone's referral? I agree that it can get annoying with some people trying to get a referral from EVERYONE, but jw's and jurassic's idea of putting it in their trade threads should by no means be a violation of the rules. It's like putting "I accept PayPal," but instead it's "I accept RME"... and if you don't have it, sign up for it!

Set up a second, personal paypal account and you can receive non-credit card payments with no fees deducted.
