I was offered the part of Han Solo's son, and I reluctantly accepted it.

I seriously doubt that. I'm sure Disney is hoping that, but not going to happen.

And if it does, the Avatar sequels will strike back.

Well I just watched Star Trek: Into Darkness.....and was left with an overwhelming sense of meh.

Don't expect much from Abraham's take on Star Wars.

I agree too. Great post. I can see the flaws of the prequels, but love them all the same. I love the story arc of Anakin, even if at times it is poorly executed. He's my favourite Star Wars character.

I'm awake really early this morning because my son, Anakin, climbed into bed and started kicking me...

Ya wish it was a different director. Maybe Oliver Stone....or Quentin Tarantino. Bring back Sam Peckinpah from the dead to direct.

I really think its to little to late for Star Wars. The original Trilogy is my all time favorite trilogy of any franchise, just ahead of Indy.

Lucas should have continued the episodes originally with his idea of 9 films 3 years apart continuing in 1986 and ending 2001. He could have than easily used all the actors during there prime and so forth and they would have not been so old.

YOU-SA LIKE EWOKS? NOT WE-SA GUNGANS? BAD KENOBI!

And yeah, I too, after watching STID, it just further backs up my thoughts that Abrams is not the right man for Episode VII. At least without guidance. I mean, people give a lot of flack for George Lucas when he's in control of Star Wars. I'm not saying that he should write or direct Episode VII, but...he should just be a little more hands off with it. Like for example, the two animated Clone Wars series. He was the executive producer of both of them and they turned out great. I'm not saying he should go back to directing or even writing the movie. I mean, he's basically said that he's done making movies. I'm just saying that he should be a little more hands off with it. Give him an exec. producer role, because I just can't see Ep. VII turn out interesting without a half mad visionary like Lucas giving JJ some guidance. Like tossing out his whole mystery box routine that he did with Into Darkness.
[Show spoiler]"Oooh, this guy isn't Khan. This guy isn't Khan...oh wait...HE IS!" Shyamalamadingdong: "WHAT A TWEEST!"
Yeah, that was basically the whole two thirds of the movie, with a not so subtle 9/11 allegory.

I think the real question is, will the audiences even care for Star Wars as much as before. I mean, Episode I came out when the technology was ready for large scale CG showcases (something that we've seen in so many movies since then), and since then, we've seen this sort done better with a greater advancement in the effects department when it comes to things like seamlessly composting actors into a CG city, like that one unbroken shot in the Avengers (which to be honest, I thought was a "meh" movie). And it isn't supposedly something like the prequels having anything to do with stuff like this. I mean, a lot worse movies have raked in the dollars constantly. E.g., The Transformers movies. I mean, back in 1977, A New Hope blew people away because it did stuff that had never been done before (or often times, stole from Flash Gordon and Samurai movies and gave them a twist to appear fresh). Now, in 2013, when we've seen the effects and action bar raised so high that the original trilogy looks tame by comparison (at least to the general audience)...will they even line up like they used to. I mean, it'll still make a lot of money, but perhaps not as much as Disney were hoping for.

I do agree that keeping the momentum going right then and there would have been WAY better. Too late now though. Im still cautiously optimistic about these new films. If they butcher them I can just pretend they dont exist(like Alien 3 & 4) and call it a 6-film franchise for me
