The correct order is 4,5,6.

Then stop.

No, it really won't. If he doesn't recognize the twist he probably hasn't been alive for the past 20 years. (And having seen 456 for the first time this year, the twist has lost all impact. It's not the earth shattering moment people go on about, at least not anymore.)

It's basically story of Luke up until the big spoiler of 5 then 123 as flashbacks then back to 6 as the finale.
Pretty crazy
I've heard of a few orders but have never really experimented with them.

It's quite possible that he doesn't know about it. I know a few people who don't know cinema's big twists even though they've seeped into popular culture.

I suppose, but the apparent sucker punch of the film missed me, because I knew what was coming. It's my fault, should've seen it before now...

As mentioned above 4,5,1,2,3,6 is the best way to go.

I always show people the films in that order if they've never seen them before (or if they've only seen 1 or 2 of them). It gives people a greater appreciation for the prequels and the saga as a whole.

It don't mind them. It's the blinking that puts me off now.

Indeed. If you're showing them to someone for the very first time who really hasn't got any idea about the twist, then 4,5,6 is fine. Trouble is, given the ubiquity of that spoiler in pop culture, that person would either be a hermit or a young child, and in the case of the latter they'd be too busy playing with their Clone Wars toys to give a rat's ass about some old movies.

I don't understand why some fans are so precious with this shit, trying desperately to safeguard a spoiler that really has been common knowledge for 33 years, as if it's the fault of the evil prequels that it got spoilered in the first place. I don't level that charge at anyone in this thread specifically, it's just something that's always baffled me.

I look forward to showing the (theatrical) films to my kids one day and this happening;

I have to say from a personal perspective that Empire Strikes Back didn't work for me. Maybe it works better if you don't know the twist, but on an overall level the film didn't really work for me, it wasn't particularly fun, and the world didn't absorb me. But knowing the twist is the straw that broke the camel's back and I can genuinely say (having only seen the original trilogy) I prefer Return of the Jedi.

ROTJ is the only film of the original trilogy where I actually gave a crap about what happened to any of the characters...

I imagine in or around 2020, when the rights for all except A New Hope revert to Disney. Either as a spoiler from Fox or from Disney themselves...

Lucas himself is the only person who doesn't want to release the theatricals. Hopefully once he's no longer involved (supposedly one year after the sale of the company, which is coming up soon) someone will decide to give the fans what they want.

I am astounded that they havent re done the transfers and sold them under the new "4k" brand. I would probably get them again if they looked better but I am a sucker for Star Wars.
