Shipping is dreadful to the States, however. Total comes to about $206 USD if you want it shipped to the U.S.
Tried to order this set yesterday at that price. Despite the fact that the website showed there were 3 left in stock, when I tried to immediately check out a message popped up stating it was no longer available except through 3rd party sellers at a much higher price. I asked Amazon if they would honor the sale price if I ordered when they restocked, since it did state they had three left when I tried to place the order, but no luck. They said it was indeed sold out and there website was slow in updating stock numbers. Ah well, I already have the single releases on Blu, so I won't lose any sleep over it...

Very good deal, but I just bought 'The Essentials Collection' myself for $34.49. The only two films that I am interested in that are not included in the set I bought are 'The Man Who New Too Much' and 'The 39 Steps'.

While I Agree, I'm a firmer believer that you're a sucker if you pay over $20 for a movie =P

My apologies, I didn't intend it that way. I just meant while this is the best price I know of for the US/Canada its has been this price or cheaper for the UK set for awhile now. I'm sure I've "overpayed" for the majority of my collection.

Incredibly tempting, if I didn't have Breaking Bad pre-ordered for the price error price it would be a no brainer.

I have the first five seasons but have yet to dive into it. That's a great price for 8 seasons.

Rather price match with a local business than import.

Since I have been in the bluray buying game from day one, I have "overpayed" for 90% of my collection. Flicks like IRobot, Departed, Clash of Titans and regular warner cheapies cost me $25-30 bucks when I bought them years ago.

Now offcourse they can all be found in the $9.99 and less bin. Its just part of the game when it comes to electronics, movies etc. I don't regret paying the price, but It does bother me when people grumble about $10 bucks for a movie being "too much" these days.

I actually paid more to import this set from the UK. Cost me $180 when I got it last October, but the packaging and goodies are WWAAYYY nicer in the UK set than ours. If you don't care about that offcourse you can save yourself a couple of bucks by going local.

I'm assuming you are talking about the Limited Edition when mentioning the packaging and goodies are better, which did get a price drop in August but is back up to around the same price you paid back in October: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alfred-Hitch...ords=hitchcock

The one in a Digibook style packaging very similar to what we got here (minus North By Northwest) is currently 59.99 pounds from Zavvi: http://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/alfred-.../10629733.html

Note: There are two new ways to collect these movies in the UK. Universal released Hitchcock Vol 1 and Vol 2 in the UK in August. Combined they give you all 14 films from the Hitchcock set (minus North by Northwest again). Both volumes are 30 pounds each, which equal Zavvi's price. This option is actually cheaper than Zavvi as Amazon.co.uk drops VAT but Zavvi does not. Around $91 CDN shipped.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Then there is Hitchcock: The Ultimate Filmmaker Collection coming in November to the UK. It adds To Catch a Thief and North by Northwest bumping the total film count up to 16. It has pretty awesome packaging also, each film comes in it's own tin designed to look like the casing from old school film reels. I really want this set. The masterpiece set definitely looks great, but I love the idea of the packaging to this version.

I wouldn't, I find price matching a time consuming pain in the arse, so I only bother if it's worth it. Plus they won't price match Amazon.co.uk.

Same situation, but unless there is a great deal I don't buy stuff at release date, I hold off until the inevitable price drop, but even still it's almost certainly going to be cheaper at some point down the road. I think you are talking about the limited Edition? That is a nice set, I settled for the DigiBook like one. It's missing North by Northwest, but that's OK I want to get the DigiBook at some point.
