just one more thing. I'm thinking about getting the setup hagar852 mentioned. I'm new to all of this home theater stuff. The tv i have now is a panasonic, model # TH-42PX60U. How would I go about hooking everything up? I have directtv hd, ps3 and 360. The tv has 2 hdmi and component inputs in the back and a few other ones. The only ouput it has is the RCA and a Digital one. I think the Toslink. Do I connect just the audio portions of the systems to the receiver or does it take the video portion too and connect to the tv?

Get the Sony STR-DG720 mentioned. and connect your PS3, Sattelite box, and any other componente via HDMI (monoprice.com).
Then cinnect the TV to the receiver via HDMI.
This way, you can simply switch inputs on the receiver to whatever component you want.
Be sure to future-priif bi getting 1.3a HDMI cables.
