as im sure everyone else here will say...

Planet Earth is stellar.
Galapagos as well.
Relentless Enemies from National Geographic I though boasted a rather superb video presentation as well.

I havent seen it yet, but im kind of itching to pick up Sharkwater that just came out as well.

All of the Alaska, Antarctica, Africa, and Australia IMAX shows are steller. But be forewarned, animals were killed during the filming of those shows. (That's nature for ya!) I echo Galapagos and Planet Earth.

All about the Galapagos Islands in the Southern Pacific, off of Chile. Also about the expedition there by Darwin and the HMS Beagle. They have some great space shots of the currents that impact the islands, as well as all the various life forms present.

I agree with mr peepers, although in my opinion Galapagos has extremly beautiful pictures too. In other words I wouldn't call it just "well".

About IMAX, well, so far I've seen Alaska, Serengeti and Australia and my feelings are mixed. There are some extremly sharp pictures, but mediocre ones too. All in all the IMAX films are.. well ... "well" , but not "stellar" as PLANET EARTH surely is... dis is da best blu-ray docu eva!

I'm not good at links and this is probably too long from amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Galapagos-Blu-...8888658&sr=1-1

But just go to amazon, DVD, Blu-ray, and finally type in galapagos and it will come up in Blu-ray. Read the reviews. It's got a couple of seals in the water on the cover.

Use that link--it worked!

oh, dont get me wrong here, i thought Galapagos was just as good as planet earth. I was phrasing it as though Galapagos was just as good as Planet Earth. IE:, Planet Earth was stellar. Galapagos was as well, stellar. Or, Galapagos was ALSO stellar.

Not, Galapagos was just, "well." Or, "ok."

ok, enough with me trying to explain proper grammer, which I was never very good at to begin with and have probably failed miserably with it now.

Planet Earth and Galapagos should be number one and two on your list

Galapagos is a GREAT documentary.... kinda repeats itself for the first 60-90 seconds between scenes, if you watch the 4 (there are four right?) parts in sequence..... but it's great..... The underwater stuff is stunning, but the Tortoises are really cool...... Gentle-Giants if you will

Not really a spoiler I guess.... but that Bird with the Pink Throat that blows up...... that's Reference quality!!!!

But since I'm not lazy, and he asked for good documentaries, I'll note that we've gone a whole thread with posters immediately assuming "IMAX/Doc" = "Nature", and not one poster has mentioned "Chronos".

And although March of the Penguins would be a no-brainer, it's worth noting that That's Entertainment, Pt. 1 is also listed under the Documentary category, as is the trying-to-be-Michael-Moore-in-a-good-way Enron: Smartest Guys in the Room.
My duty is now done.

That's why Chronos is my avatar! It's the one disk I show to anyone who watches my Hi Def TV and wants to know how good Blu-ray can be.

BTW, IMAX will soon by coming out with Wolves and Bears as Blu titles in the next month or so.
