Don't know much about this process of speculation, but to say Billy Wilder is under represented is an understatement and also - there are too few Spanish language films in the collection - especially after that streak of great films that came out around the turn of the century.
Thanks for covering the monthly "where's my Antonioni" post for me.

Hell, I would jump up and down for Zabriskie Point

If the Billy Wilder mega-set really is announced today, that will be one of the nicest sets ever produced by the Criterion Collection. Both myself and my sister would be thrilled to get a set like that.

I would hope for either a single Kurosawa release or a boxset but I'm sure Crapterion will stick the finger up at us yet again.

yeah.. with 36 Kurosawa films in the collection (more than any other director,) Criterion has a habit of sticking its middle finger up at you.

I much prefer when they announced things I *haven't* heard of. Then I get to learn about films that I might love, and didn't know existed before. What could be better than that?

I would be jumping for joy for The Passenger. Although L'Avventura and L'Eclisse would be a cause for celebration.
