I'm not even going to bother getting into another slug fest on this topic, all I'm going to say is go to japan and tell me if every other car there is a Chevy or ford like it is a Toyota or Nissan here, their people are smart and know the positive effects investing their money into their countries companies has, to bad i cant say the same for people in this country!

I don't know, personally? I'd go with the Evo - I don't know, something about the BMW...if you're going to go BMW, don't go with the 1-series. It's more of a personal thing. M3. In the price range, personally I'd do a Subaru Impreza...that's just me though,

Nothing like a brand that requires you to be a Ferrari owner before you can buy a Ferrari at the dealership!

However, most U.S. cars are fat, ugly, and slow, and have absolutely no appeal to myself and many others looking for an affordable performance vehicle. Not to mention that in three years a Z06 sells for almost half of its original retail. You've got to be out of your mind, or have a lot of cash to burn, to buy one new. The new Mustang, while fairly attractive, is a dime a dozen on the road and is not really that exciting to drive. For people looking for a performance car, there really isn't much to choose from in the U.S. market. Charger? Give me a break. That's not a Charger. Mustang? Maybe, if you plunk down the coin for a GT500. Otherwise, no thanks. Corvette? Very nice cars, but their value sinks like a rock. Viper? I love the Viper, but 80k is not in the same ballpark as what I'm looking at. Sadly, one of the best U.S. cars in terms of price, performance, and retained value is the Neon SRT-4. So... like Blinkman said, if U.S. car companies want to sell U.S. cars, make something worth buying. |

Why so extreme? The 135i shares the same engine with the 335i, which has proven to be underrated at 300hp/300tq. The 335's, even with the extra weight of the 3 series chassis, move out pretty well. I got beat pretty bad by one in my Evo IX and that car was no slouch.
The M3 is also almost double the price. |

No not the Beemer, beemer drivers are the worst. I've never been behind a beemer driver who felt like they didn't own the road. Even in playing GT5 Prologue, the car that hogs the road the most is the beemer.

LOL, in cruising the Bimmer forums I found a lot of arrogance, to the point where that's one thing that's really turning me off of the car. ESPECIALLY when the 1 was announced, all the 335 owners were in a tizzy because they paid for that engine in their 3 series and it's not fair that they're using the same engine in a smaller, lighter car. But then they "justified" it by saying that the 1 is a "cheap 3 series." Untrue, as the 1 is made to be a return to the smaller style of the older 3 series for people who like the small, sporty Bimmers. The 3 series has gained a lot of weight over the years.

My friend had an 04 Competition Orange Cobra. Before it got totaled it was laying down 530/530 at the wheels. It was scary to ride in, but very fun. Always funny to see the look on the motorcycle guys' faces when you roll past them at a buck fifty!

I have to agree with this-- from what I've seen, worldwide, Beamer drivers tend to think they are better than everyone else and drive like buttheads. Apologies if anyone owns one and ISN'T a butthead.

I've owned a Mitsubishi, and I promised the dealership I would never recommend someone to buy a Mitsu. So get the BMW.
I am as patriotic as one can get, but when I spend $35k on a car, it can not be worth $15k in threee years. If the U.S. auto companies can improve quality and in turn residual values, I will buy a U.S. manufactured car. |

I'm right there with you sssick. I look for quality, reliability, performance, and ability to retain value. Score high in all of those categories and I wouldn't care where the vehicle was manufactured.
