Default This is a perfecdtly legit thread!

If everyone were to get past the fact that the OP is asking about Cloverfield, specifically, and focus on the meat of the matter, he has a great point.

I'm sure there are many titles that this will apply to, not only from Paramount, but Universal as well. I think it would be very short-sighted to release a bare-bones Blu-ray due to the death of HD DVD. I understand that there is an expense associated with having to, at the very least, port from HD DVD to Blu-ray, but c'mon, I think by now most studios have realized that extras are one of the many reasons that DVDs were so much more popular than VHS.

I know, I know, not everyone cares about extras, and I certainly don't watch them on all my movies, but there are those films where you just can't get enough, and want as much information and supplemental material as you can get your hands on. I think that Cloverfield will qualify as one of those movies, for fans of the film. I know there are many out there that didn't care for the "first person film shooting" style of the film, but there are many others that loved it, and there was a huge viral campaign that had fans wanting more.

All that said, if you're a film fan who just cares about PQ and SQ only, and has no love of extras, don't bother to comment. There's just no point in a thread such as this, and it will only turn into a flame thread. So move on. For others, this is a topic that was bound to come up sooner or later since the death of HD DVD and the eventual entry (and re-entry) of Universal and Paramount (even eventually Dreamworks). We want a quality, well-rounded product, not just a movie, when we're paying out top-dollar for our Blu-ray discs. There's nothing more frustrating than to have a film on DVD that has more extras on it than the Blu-ray copy. With all that storage space, why is this happening?

I'm climbing down off my soapbox now. Perhaps the OP might consider changing the title of his thread more appropriate to the discussion. Oh, and iNCREDiPiNOY, I loved your input, very funny!
