Prime is one of the best deals around. Besides the fact that I get most of my Amazon orders within a business day or two, it allows me to buy many sub $35 items (previously $25) without having to fuhk around finding some filler item to get to free shipping... especially on Warehouse Deals. Plus, and this is a big plus, their included streaming has gotten much better. We don't have cable and my kids mostly watch their shows on Amazon (and PBS).

Anyone that doesn't have Prime should go through their Amazon order history and see how much they would have saved.

Just in time for christmas shopping.
I buy enough that this really sucks and will reduce my amazon purchases, but not enough to make prime worth it. Best Buy instore will match anything they have anyway.

BB and others offer free shipping for movies during holidays too. Amazon is making a bad decision here.

I was never a proponent of Prime because of the price tag... until I got a free trial. Since then, I've paid the full price because I find it to be valuable: Prime Instant Videos, Kindle Lending Library, and the ability to order a $5 Blu-ray on a whim. I figure they're doing this to get more people to join Prime.

Prime is especially awesome if you are a fan of History Channel shows. I have streamed like 200 episodes of Pawn Stars so far.

Prime is definitely worth it, but I think that this will be the next thing to go up in price.

if Prime goes up I'm out. I'm already considering not renewing since it's becoming less and less worth it with less and less deals on amazon lately so a price hike for prime would put me over the edge

I rarely bought anything off Amazon and now that the shipping limit is raised I probably won't buy at all. Yes I could get Prime, but the amount I buy wouldn't justify the price.

Looks like another retailer is off of my online shopping list...Walmart was 1st because now they are charging $5 shipping on one item and now Amazon with their $35 minimum...will be nice to have some extra money in my pocket...

At least BBY charges $2 for shipping if you want one item, that isnt so bad now, hopefully they too wont raise their shipping price...(I am elite so all shipping for me on BBY's website is free for me)

I don't have prime and this doesn't bother me. Amazon has always been good in giving customers credit/promo credit just for the smallest issue or non issue just to make customers happy. They feel they need to raise the minimum so be it. Shipping costs are high to me anyway.

I'm expecting Prime to jump to at least $89, maybe even $99.

Looks like we got 50 - 50 here. 50% people love Amazon and 50% could take it or leave it.

I personally do whatever. I prefer to shop at B&M because I can get better deals but sometimes Amazon as good online deals you can't beat. I've used Amazon Instant stream and while it has some good shows on it that you can't get anywhere else. Falling Skies, Under The Dome, and Ancient Aliens. The $85 a year is a bit high for a service I just don't use that much. Shame that they keep raising the prices but that is something that will keep happening.

I guess I consider myself a casual user of Amazon, but I definitely used it a lot more than I do now, especially with BDs, unless it's a super great lightning deal or DOD. I've also noticed lately with Amazon, that even with the previous iteration of free shipping, the lowest price wasn't always fulfilled through them. It was often third party sellers, who charge shipping and often didn't collect state taxes! I don't think I'm going to miss it anyway, since I'm using them less and less now.

Well, it seems like that's soon going to be a thing of the past, too.

You pay a little more, but you can also pay $7.99 monthly for prime, which to me is like paying for Netflix but I also get 2 day free shipping.

I haven't been buying much from Amazon for the past year or so. 2011 was my last year full of purchases. First the taxes, and now this.

depends. Amazon has been blocking sales of new items for quite a while and only allowing major sellers to sell their items, amazon has been playing the bully for a while now.
