Welcome...always a pleasure to meet a fellow italian as well. Im not sure what blu rays you can come across out in milan but your choices are going to rely heavily on what type of movies you enjoy, if they are as sparse as you make it seem.

I'm a big fan of Sleepy Hollow (w/ Johnny Depp). I've had the DVD for years and the picture quality of the blu-ray release is astounding. Besides being a pretty good horror film, it would give you an idea (although not entirely realistic) of what life was like in New York around the year 1800.

I'm sure you are region B, so just do what the rest of us do that have a poor selection, Buy from the US, just be careful - NO Fox, some Sony, All Warner & Paramount. Refer to Josh's link on his sig for a more comprehensive answer.

Just do a search with the genre that appeals to you. There're so many good movies on BD. It's really up to what you like.

I agree, Sleepy Hollow is a good movie...however I have been putting off buying the Blu-ray version because I have heard more lousy things about PQ than good. Is it really a good transfer?

Hellboy; you can get it from Amazon UK and it is region free. Great Sci-fi/horror/superhero movie with amazing picture and sound.

One exception to FOX is Speed, For a movie that is remastered from 12 year old film, I thought was pretty good. This is the only FOX Blu-ray I would recommend. I was throughly disappointed by Chain Reaction...watching it made me think of one of the basic food groups....GRAIN!

...I'm no expert, but I'm running the BR from my PS3 thru HDMI-to-DVI cable to my sony 50" HD set (only 1080i), and I am impressed. No complaints here. sound is really good too through my Yamaha/infinity setup.

I don't know if you are familiar with this site dvd.it, but if you can't find a big BD selection in the stores in Milan this website is a great on-line alternative to buying movies in Italy.
