U.S. classic film distributor Twilight Time has pacted with London-based Protagonist Pictures on U.S. distrib rights to a package of Film4 movies.

Announced at the Lumiere Festical’s first Classic Films Market in Lyon, the acquisitions pack a powerful punch, catching a part Film4-driven renaissance in British filmmaking. They include: Four Ken Loach films – “Riff Raff,” “Raining Stones,” “Carla’s Song” and “Fatherland” – the debut features from Neal Jordon (1982’s “Angel”) and Paul Greengrass (1986’s “Resurrected”), anti-nuclear war animated feature “Where the Wind Blows,” Shekhar Kapur’s “Bandit Queen,” “A Month in the Country,” starring a young Colin Firth and Kenneth Brannagh, and Alan Clarke’s “Rita, Sue and Bob Too!”

U.S releases will be half and half, 2014/15, made on 3,000-unit Blu-ray issues.

Hmm... some great and important films there, and mostly titles I wouldn't have expected to see on US BD anytime soon. I'm definitely in for the Paul Greengrass and Alan Clarke films, unless we see cheaper/superior releases in other regions first.

I assume if they do see U.K. releases they'll be from 4dvd, who have been very spotty when it comes to Blu-ray (a lot of 1080i50 crap jobs), so I guess it's good there will be other options if necessary.

Thank you SAE for not updating the links on your homepage to the preorders, despite them now being live in your searchable catalog*. And where is the signed promo for Oliver!?!?!

*Links up now, but 5 minutes after preorder time. (updated 4:05pm)

The pre-orders are in the middle of the page for "New DVD Releases" window...
And I did not see the pre-order for the signed Oliver either.

They never put up the promo discs on the same day as the pre-orders, for blindingly obvious reasons. They usually come a month after.

Ah, yeah I guess you're right for the most part, unless 4dvd tinker about at the encoding stage.

Yeah you're right, they were something like 3 weeks after the pre-order went up I think.

Man, here I went looking up my order from SAE thinking it for sure sold the same day the regular copies sold out, but you're right, the autographed release was March 8. What a feeding frenzy both dates were, the original and then the signed copy.

“We want to have world cinema, not just American cinema,” Redman said at the Lumiere Festival’s Marche du Film Classique, which he attended with Jamieson to begin negotiating French titles.
It's great that TT are finally expanding their horizons, as it's what I've always thought their model was perfect for - plucking out the jewels of cinema from relative obscurity and giving them HD releases. I have high hopes.
