The prices will still be the same, the release date will still be the same.

you're just whining for sake of whining.
I bet you also send them angry e-mails when they miss the first date of an estimated delivery date in hope of getting something for your whining.
I think he's hoping to get them ordered sooner so that if Amazon drops the price any between now and then he gets the refund, smart move I think. I'd expect them to cut prices a little at least between now and release.

Criterion commentaries, Which are your favourite's and least favourite's?

I've only listened to a handful so far so I don't have a favourite at the moment.

I listened to the A Night To Remember one yesterday. Whilst I appreciate their enthusiasm for the Titanic. They just seemed to be nit picking. "they're showing too much of the model here", "they should have had more water when Baker walks out of his cabin" etc

This I fully understand people doing. I ordered The Uninvited two weeks before release date (along with The Fly and Love Actually), the latter two have been showing consistently as In Stock, same with The Uninvited since release date. Amazon have done nothing with the order and tomorrow is the first day of expected delivery. Sitting on an order for two weeks *is* "dropping the ball", and they deserve all the angry emails they get.

I'm watching Gravity today, and a screening of Ghostbusters on Halloween. Plus, I might watch Seconds soon. It'll be a great big movie week!

I'm kicking myself for not pre-ordering the massive Zatoichi set. Amazon had it for CHEAP, now their price is more expensive than Criterion's price.

Also if you have a store location near you someone in the Video/Music dept should be able to put an in store reserve for the title for you that way you do get a copy.

The boxed set doesn't come out until the end of November, I thought the BN sale was only for in stock items?

and Online... but if you can do an in store reservation for the Set I would do it. I grew up in Charleston... something tells me the nearest Barnes is in Huntington? Otherwise when the sale starts on their .com site as long as the release falls under the days of the sale it will be offered at that price.

Charleston here as well, actually the closest is Morgantown, but I was thinking Columbus was the nearest one. Either way, I never get up to Morgantown either unless I have to drive past it on my way to MD.

I bought The Last Days of Disco last year for like $7.50 I think (during a Best Buy sale). And I was super excited to see it, especially since the trailer looked funny.

I was extremely disappointed in the picture quality. It looks like it was interlaced or something. The picture gets a 2.5/5.

The soundtrack is great, but it sounds monotonous. A better variety of songs could have better captured the spirit of the late 70s. Honestly, to me, the whole thing felt as if it was taking place in a throwback 70s club in the 90s. It didn't feel very realistic to me. And the dialogue is one of those things you have to "get". I got it, but I didn't really like it. The only really memorable part of the entire film is the intro (especially when the two female leads are walking down the street). Otherwise, I though it was all pretty forgettable.

I ended up selling my copy, and while I do like that I got to see it, it honestly isn't something I would want to see again. The same goes for Metropolitan. They both have a bland, dry, monotonous feel to them. I do still have the soundtrack for the former on my iPod though.

Mine's only 1 hour (by jet!) Paraphrasing A Streetcar Named Desire "I've always relied on the kindness of relatives." Meaning my daughter on the Mainland who lives about 5 minutes away from one. Lucky kid.

I just watched Europe '51. Reminded me a lot of Mother Küsters' Trip to Heaven by Fassbinder.

I just got back from watching Gravity. Heres my review:
Gravity is a beautiful film. I saw it in 3-D, and if I didn't, I think it would lose some of it's beauty. The 3-D really enhances the atmosphere of the movie, which is the best thing about it. It mixes claustrophobic with that feeling that you're gonna be forgotten with awe- inspired visuals. The visual effects are great, and I can see why it took so long to make this film. It's not extremely CGI looking, just a hint. The cinematography is great. It is mainly shot in a documentary- type style, but sometimes it has POV shots (which makes me feel like I'm playing a video game). The movie rarely has cutscenes, which makes me feel like one tiny camera was watching over everything. I can really sympathize with the Sandra Bullock character and what she's going threw, so I really want to see her make it. This is why the movie is so suspenseful. I was on the edge of my seat for most of the movie. The music is awesome. It really sets the tone for the movie. I love how it builds up, and builds up, and builds up, and... silence. Why? Because they're in space, and sound doesn't travel threw space. I just love that. the conversations she has with George Clooney's character is great. It's very natural, and I feel like they've known each other for a while. I was surprised that
[Show spoiler]they killed of George Clooney's character half way threw the movie. I thought he would come back, especially when we saw him come on board, but then we realized it was just a hallucination. Killing of George Clooney half way threw a movie is a pretty ball-sey move, especially in a big-budget film like this. After something that unexpected, I thought they would kill off Sandra Bullock's character. Actually, I think the movie would have been better if she died, because it wouldn't have been so stereotypical. But what can you do.

In conclusion, this movie is satisfying, gripping, thrilling, and beautiful. If you haven't checked it out, go see it. 8/9
