From interviews I have read, and this could be pure speculation on my part, but my impression is that the studios provide TT with a big list of titles they're willing to licence and TT cherry picks what they want. Who knows, A Letter To Three Wives could have been on that list too. I'm amazed that Fox released In Old Arizona on blu-ray. Apart from the Best Actor Oscar win, I don't really see there being a whole lot of appeal for that one, yet there it is on the shelves at HMV.

Different internal factions inside Fox control certain properties for home video release.

That is why you get Fox releasing In Old Arizona and TT licensed a comparatively "bigger" movie.

I'm very unhappy about crimes and misdemeanors.

Twilight is not going create new supplements.

But now the bluray could possibly sell out and I may have to pay over $50.

I have a hard time believing nobody else wants to release this bluray.

In all reality, there wouldn't have been any other supplements for this release by any other label either.

That's my point. For Crimes and Misdemeanors, I will probably have to go out of my way and buy before its sold out and pay at least $30 for what could have been a regular catalog release at Amazon for $12.99. And I could buy it at Amazon when I chose to purchase.

Well there are really one or two other alternate scenarios. One, what you describe. Or two, no one releases the film on Blu Ray.

That's why it's released this way. You answered your own question.

Which makes more profit: 1) making the fans of the film pay $30 now or 2) making fans think they can wait forever and get it for $13 or less.

I agree, for some of the films there is not much demand and TT might be the only company that would be interested in releasing a bluray.

But, others such as, "Crimes and Misdemeanors" or "Used Cars", would probably sell more than 3,000 copies. So I would rather a traditional distributor handled those.

Yes, this is the American way and I always support free enterprise. However, it is dissapointing when the same company ( Not TT) sells the same movie overseas for a lot less.

I just bought 3 James Dean movies with lots of extras from UK for the same $30.00 that I would have to pay for 1 TT release with only a music score. But I have strayed a little off topic, sorry.

Actually yes, one of those is in March...

I'd put my money on Mississippi Burning, given some of TT's more mainstream releases over the last year.

I seem to remember them saying awhile ago that Equus was one they would like to have. I have no idea if that is the film they're talking about though.

"Equus" would be my guess - TT already mentioned the film on Facebook and "Hawaii" would need restoration work for the long version - TT wouldn't release the short version. "Mississippi Burning" is much newer and TT doesn't get offered newer films very often

According to TT's Facebook page it looks like we are getting a signed copy of Mindwarp through a promotion soon on SAE's website. I guess better later than sooner?

They always do that... they release a title THEN have copies signed for a later promotion. It must be annoying for people who already bought the title.
