What would it be to benifit Amazon shoppers? I find as it is now $79 is a bit much.. I hardly watch any of the amazon streaming but I use the Kindle lending.

I assumed with their bulk shipping contracts they figured it was more affordable to ship separately rather than pay someone to package things together. Until the add-on program that is. Before it, they had lots of stuff across their site for only a buck or two that shipped like everything else with prime. Then they not only created the add-on program making it less convenient to buy small items from them when you needed, but shortly after they started over-inflating the prices of many of those items, as if they didn't even want us to buy them from them anymore, or expected most of their customers to be dumb enough to pay twice the price of what you can get it for locally - still haven't figured out which. But I thought amazon seemed to make more of an effort to ship stuff together these days: they've even seemed to delay shipment for a few of my items, presumably to send it with another order I had due.
Yep when the add-on program started it pissed off a lot of prime members because with prime you still had to have $25 worth of stuff, I guess Amazon wanted to give the sellers more sells because at least for them $4 +$3 S&H is way cheaper then $25 min order.

Interesting... I wonder what that means to people who renew before that. I think mine expires in November... so I would assume/hope renewal at that point would be for a full year at the current rate... then not see the price increase until next renewal.

Amazon My Amazon bd & dvd pre/order cancels

I was just looking at my Amazon bd & dvd(this is what I buy from them the most) order list for October & I've cancelled 12 pre-orders/orders this month alone.

It's not necessarily b/c of Amazon raising free shipping minimum to $35, but b/c of the prices of bds & dvds being much higher then any other yr. I've bought from them.

I've even made a special folder for my Amazon pre/order cancels.

Default Amazon no longer offering free shipping on $25

I went to place an order on Amazon this evening and noticed that my order (which was about $32) was not eligible for free shipping. Upon further research I found out that Amazon has switched the amount of product that needs to be ordered to $35 or more in order to qualify for free shipping. (This must have just happened as I ordered a couple of days ago and didn't experience the new limit then).

I am sure they want people to sign up for Prime membership which at $79 a year offers free two day shipping and no minimum. I don't always have $35 or more worth of items in one order, so now I have to decide if I want to sign up for Prime or not.

I just thought I'd let everyone know because the free shipping perk for $25 worth of items was a great thing, and with the holidays and Black Friday shopping around the corner...well, it's good to know.

* this was moved - I had started a thread because I missed this existing one about the new limit...

I don't think you get free shipping as a Prime Member if you live in Alaska or Hawaii, which I do. Last time I tried a free trial of Prime, they didn't offer free shipping anyway. This is a huge bummer.

Strangs this is, you can get free shipping if you spend over $25 (now $35), but not with Prime.

Is Amazon UK the only one that offers free shipping with no minimum order (within the country of sale)?

If you do, then you will give Amazon exactly what they want and they will continue with this stupidity. Next thing you know, they will raise the Prime rate to $100 a year.

If they include AK on the free shipping list and make their streaming library amazing, yes, I'm all for it!

I guarantee they do...I've had a free shipping order sitting for over two weeks (product *in stock*) while they wait for their "estimated delivery date" to arrive. The solution, they say, is to purchase the faster shipping methods. A complete crock - how fast the item is delivered by the parcel company has no bearing on how long it takes them to pick it off the shelf and put it in a box. I don't care if they get it to me by horse and cart, just put it on the horse and cart!

I *used* to have Prime, but then they cheap out on the shipping...every BD came in one of those crappy yellow "padded" mailers.

Tell me about! One of my orders was in "shipping soon" status for for nearly five days. I finally gave them a piece of my mind and they changed the shipping to 1 day. I had to do this twice last week with same results.

Glad to see Amazon is finally getting some hate It was getting tiring seeing everyone all team Amazon, while bashing on BB all the time.

With this change to $35 free shipping just means I probably never will order from Amazon.

I am a Prime member as well and to all other Prime members, keep in mind that Amazon has a lot of smaller product now which is referred to as "Add On Item" we can't take advantage of those items for quick shipping unless we hit the now $35 minimum.

No they can't. Each person has their own separate account. Then whoever has prime can invite family to share the shipping benefit.

Only the account that purchases the Prime can add people. You can't see anything about their account. Amazon does require you know their birthday and relationship status with you for confirmation.

The price of those bubble mailers that don't protect anything must have gone up.
