I'm sure they'd love to do a show featuring any of the original cast members, but they would either be too expensive or (more likely) wouldn't want to keep playing the same character. I can't imagine that NPH would have any desire to keep playing Barney. He's got a couple kids now and likely wants to move on to something different.

I was thinking maybe a good way to do a new show but have a connection to HIMYM would be to have it centered on the sister of one of the current characters. This way they could occasionally bring back current characters for guest spots and have a natural connection to the original. Unfortunately that could be difficult because of the three sisters from the show two are already on Pretty Little Liars, and the actress who played Ted's sister may not be well known enough to be one of the leads on the spin-off. I just would prefer if they are going to make this spin-off that it would have a real connection to the original and not just some random people they show during the series finale.
