Default Golfers - What's in the Bag?

Golfing season is finally upon us here in Southeastern Wisconsin. I've gotten two rounds in so far, and I have to admit that the 'new iron' bug keeps pestering me. I'm currently playing some Mizuno MP-30s, which I absolutely love, but the new Titleist AP2s look incredible. They also may be a bit more forgiving as well. Any opinions?

The Bag:

Nike SQ460 9.5°
TM R7 Steel 15°
TM Rescue TP 21°
Mizuno MX-23 4
Mizuno MP-30 5-P
Mizuno MP Raw Black 52° 56° 60°
Scotty Cameron Futura
Pro V1x

In the bag:

Some cheap set I got on a military base nearby.

Clubs do not make the man in my opinion. I'm a terrible golfer no matter what clubs I use.

I've played quite a few rounds already (our weather permits year round play) and I'm doing an 18 hole course on Monday with some friends at a somewhat nicer course that I've not been to yet. I'm excited.

I only started playing last summer. I suck, but it's fun.

What part of 'off topic' do you not comprehend?

Settle down gamer. I am simply trying to change the pace a bit in the 'off-topic' forum. Thanks for the back up, dark tower fan.

My apologies...more of sarcasm than anything. I do enjoy golf as well.

I completely agree that the clubs do not make the man. In most cases, its the indian, not the arrow. However, different types of clubs can do different things with ball flight, feel, and feedback. For example, beginners that haven't developed a repeatable swing should be using larger irons that are more forgiving, and that have a lower center of gravity. This will help get the ball in the air, and will aid in off-center hits. A lower handicapper, on the other hand, will find it easier to control trajectory and direction with smaller clubheads, often of the forged variety.

Here I am, a beginner golfer reading through this thread, when I come to:

I about fell out of my chair!

I've got a set of Adams Tight Lies for Irons, along with an Adam 9 degree driver... I did just buy a great 3 wood Slazenger Black Max... GREAT!

I'll probably pick up a new driver this weekend, as mine is well past it's prime (used before I got it). I may get the TaylorMade r5 draw.

A few friends and I have a tee time at Osprey Ridge at Disney World this weekend. Should be great weather.... but when is it not great wether for golf in Florida.

I only carry one wood, my driver...... I can't hit fairway woods consistently enough.... so I have....

8 Degree Callaway Hawkeye with an extra-stiff shaft w/ stiff tip,
Titeist 990B blade irons, Stiff flex steel shafts
Full set of Vokey wedges,
Scotty Cameron Platinum putter (not sure which one, but have had it for a couple of years and I putt just as bad with it as anything else)

I'm about 4 as far as handicaps goes......

I love my Titeist irons.... if you can't work "Pure" conventional blades, these are slightly more forgiving, but still let you fade/draw the ball.

I only play the OLD PRO V1's, not that V1* ball.... it feels completely different..... I don't claim that the equipment, or the ball makes a huge difference, but together, if it gives me a little more feel etc... it's worth it.

I'm looking at possibly dropping to a 7 degree driver, as I still put the ball pretty far in the air (but straight) I generate a lot of club-head speed I guess (and I'm only 5'9 1/2 135lbs soaking wet..... it's mostly technique)

I was a scratch golfer back in High School.... so work/kid/school has taken its toll on my game! (mostly short game)

Titleist 905T 9.5* NV 65-S (Gonna get the 905R eventually)
Sonartec NP-99 15* NV 75-S
Nickent Genex 18* Hybrid NV-85
Titleist 735.cm 3-PW
Mizuno MP Black OX wedges 56* & 60*
Never Compromise Milled Series #5
Taylormade TP Red/ Pro V1 (whichever I find in my bag)

I actually used to be scratch, but since I've gotten into college, I just haven't been able to play that much, so my equipment is a couple years old.
