Assuming you want to eventually buy all three, logic tells me to go with ID4. Layer Cake is not on sale right now as far as I know, and Troy goes on sale more often than ID4. (At worst you can get Troy for $20.21 at warnervideo.com with the perenially posted 25%-off code if you don't mind a $50 threshold for free shipping.)

ID4's PQ is pretty clean but not eye-popping. The audio, on the other hand, kicks major alien ass.

Edit: I took so long formulating my post that I didn't see your final decision. Ah well, enjoy ID4.

Troy to me. None of the stories on any of those in that much better than any of the rest that you could say hands down 'go with this'. ID4 was made when they were still using regular movie cameras, therefore imo the picture looks dull. Troy has the best PQ and AQ of the three.

That movie was hype then and it's hype now...it is simply hype in Blu.
Enjoy
At least ID4 surpassed what it's hyped up to be. Troy definitely isn't and turned out to be nothing more than a trojan horse.
