Default Miracle Mile on Blu-ray?

Does anyone know if Miracle Mile is likely to be released on Blu-ray? This is a great cult classic and deserves special treatment a la Criterion or similar. The only available format is a poor, OOP pan & scan DVD.

I asked the same question in the Twilight Time thread; now that TT are releasing MGM titles, and Miracle Mile is the type of cult 80's film they seem to like, I'd say there's a better than fair chance of seeing it from them in the not-too-distant future.

BTW, there is a letterbox DVD of Miracle Mile available - it's a double feature with The Manhattan Project, supposedly both are 1.85:1. Look on Amazon, it's easy to find. I haven't bothered with it (I have the original open matte DVD as well), I reckon a BD is not far off.

For those who are getting to this thread from Google, most of the discussion is now over here.

Did you see this QA from the Doomsday Film Fest with Anthony Edwards and Steve De Jarnatt? They want a blu ray too:

I'm sure the cover would use the same art as VHS, but this poster has a certain deco cool:

And yes, Miracle Mile is on my wishlist, bigtime.

Thanks for that link. Great to see that this isn't a forgotten film, and the director and actors still think highly of it.

You're welcome, I think I found the link on this forum anyway, so I'm just keeping it up there. Here's more or less what De Jarnatt said, while it's as much wishful thinking as any fan at this point, at least he's willing, and remember this was shot 2 years ago at least, so someone here probably knows more about who owns it:

"We gotta do a blu-ray or something, you know, with some special stuff in it... the library's owned by MGM... Heimdale went bankrupt... people are trying to buy the MGM library, so when that settles out, we can try to do that and do it better, because even the DVD version is... (interviewer: It's cropped.)"

Steve De Jarnatt announced Kino Lorber's upcoming releases of MIRACLE MILE and CHERRY 2000 on his Facebook page.

I don't think it's Criterion Collection material but it certainly deserves to be released on Blu-ray.
