Default The Legend of the Wolf Woman AKA Werewolf Woman (1976) - Early 2014 from Raro

NEWS
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=12554

Raro Video USA have confirmed that they are planning to release on Blu-ray Rino Di Silvestro's horror film Werewolf Woman a.k.a La lupa mannara (1976), starring Annik Borel, Dagmar Lassander, Howard Ross, Tino Carraro, and Salvatore Billa. The release is expected to arrive on the America market Halloween 2014.

Synopsis: On the night of the full moon, deep within the forest a beautiful young girl starts a rhythmic ritualistic dance into a circle of fire. Her pure skin and lovely features assume the ugliness of a wild animal. (Released on VHS under the alternative title The Legend of the Wolf Woman).

Nice! Can finally upgrade from my Media Blasters DVD. It has some framing issues which I Hope this will not.

This will be a nice upgrade from the very badly cropped/zoomed in US DVD.

Ah so that is what was so bad with the shriek show DVD...they did the old crop and zoom trick. I never noticed personally but I don't always pay that much attention to certain technical aspects though but now knowing this I am even more happy Raro is releasing this. Very Curious to see what title they put on the cover and what artwork they use. I always preferred The Legend of the Wolf Woman over Werewolf Woman but that is just me and all and all none of that stuff really matters anyway.

What really stinks is that the Shriek Show disc is 1.85, which is how the film should theoretically be shown - it's just zoomed in hard on all 4 sides, for one reason or another.

I saw a 35mm print of this a while back that was so faded the entire film was a dull pink. Can't wait to give this another watch... preferably in full color this time.

Yeah I never knew the Shriek Show DVD was cropped since it was in an aspect ratio of 1:85(the OAR) on that disc...I however did not realize they just zoomed in to give the appearance of the OAR. I hope Raro gives us the goods here with this disc.

The old Raro (PAL) DVD was properly framed, so I doubt we have anything to worry about.

Never heard of it but the poster for it looks fantastic. I'll give it a go when it comes out. I am a big Raro fan. They do a good job on their releases.

Yeah--If you're expecting a werewolf movie, you'll get about five minutes of that in the opening, TOPS.
After that, it's just a pretty straightforward giallo about her modern-day descendant having unexplainable homicidal urges.
Ginger Snaps, sadly, it ain't.
