No, not at all. I don't give a damn what the GPA of players for my team are so long as it's passing. Don't care if they are going for the dopey "General Studies" or a quality degree either as long as they're academically eligible to play football. I'd rather have a team with a 2.5 GPA that's 7-1 over a team with a 3.8 GPA that's 1-7.

Ya, typically jocks go for these...

General Studies
Interdisciplinary Studies
Communications
Sociology
Family Sciences

What you do with these degrees I have no idea. But hey, whatever gets them through college I guess. What's amusing is when they mention a player's major as communications on air, then the player does an interview and can't speak in complete sentences. Seen that many times.

I understand... and I half expect it from the SEC teams and others who are frequently getting top players (because a lot of those guys have been taught since before high school that their future NFL career [because it's guaranteed for them, ya know] is more important than anything like an education), but it seems surprising to me to see it from essentially a mid-major school. Maybe there are only so many smart people that play football and they all go to Stanford if they're any good.

Who cares as long as they field a good football team?

And that disturbs me as well. On your average football team, maybe 2 players will make an NFL team, and maybe 1 will be there in 5 years. Yet most of them barely get an education and in areas that are going to get them nothing but a job at Burger King or a low-level assistant at some sports related company.

Ya, there's a reason why almost all ex-NFL players all end up bankrupt. I assume if they were majoring in Finance or Accounting instead of General Studies they'd end up smarter with their money when they're millionaires.

A lot of these guys would never have gone to college if it weren't for their football talents. Football is going to be the highlight of their lives.

Exactly.... which is why they should get an education and improve their situation. Instead they'll play for a few years and then go home and live in their parents basement or spare bedroom.

That's true. Most of the people I know who graduated with general studies or history degrees had a hard time finding any job they couldn't get if they didn't go to college to begin with.

If you get a History degree, which is one of the many that I have , you can get jobs with it. Archival work, librarian, teacher, curator, etc.

All I know is that we are completely in the drivers seat, and we will be playing in a BCS Bowl Game .

It bugs the hell out of me that Louisville is ranked 20th and we are 21st when we beat them at their house in a primetime game.

Yes, and History is a good undergrad degree if you go to law school.

I believe UCF can actually lose an AAC game now and still win the conference since we have a tiebreaker over Houston and Louisville, right?

You are correct. Out of all of our games remaining, the toughest game will be Rutgers at home. USF could be tricky because they are a huge rival of ours, but they have been downright terrible this year.

Just got back form a wet, sorry night. Our team could not tackle a 90 year old grandmother even if their fate depended on it. Absolutely, pathetic.

If Duke wins out and GT loses, Duke takes it.

Basically, VT takes 3-way over GT/Duke and GT/Miami and 2-way against GT and Miami.

Miami takes 2-way over GT.

GT takes 2-way over Duke.

Duke takes 2-way over VT.

Still not playing anybody, but 9-1 Great first year. Too bad we're pretty much guaranteed to lose the conference tiebreakers and thus will miss the FCS playoffs.
