Really had no idea what to expect. Went an hour after opening, and figured they'd be sold out by now. If not, I could just walk in and get a game. Ya, not a chance. Long lineup outside the door. But it was mainly because FS takes so long processing the orders. Ended up waiting in line with my 3 year old for nearly 2 hours. We were one of the final five to get a game (COD) before everything was completely sold out. People in the lineup were saying that those who got there in the morning were able to get 1 of each game with 3 trade ins. Pretty amazing. They eventually limited it to 1 per customer once they realized they wouldn't have enough. Can't really complain about waiting as it's an amazing deal. My FEAR Files game had a trade in value of $1. Not a bad trade if I say so myself.

Went in Best Buy with my two daughters hoping that I could snag all three games at once, but huge huge line up so we bailed. Went back a few hours later and they were all sold out.

Why did they call this a three day event when they had to know it wouldn't even last a day?

I ended up getting AC IV at EB games so I could upgrade to the PS4. I asked the guy if I needed the receipt to upgrade and he said no, just the disc/case etc and I'd get a $50 credit. Not sure about this, how do they know you bought it from them? Also there were a bunch of kids in line trying to "return" COD without a receipt... didn't work.

Then I go to Target and see the B2G1 sale, so I bought AC IIV again along with BF4 & COD. Usually don't buy games for more than $25 but the ability to upgrade to PS4 made it worthwhile. I think I'll set 1 or two aside and not start them until I get them for the PS4.

I'm confused. Are you going to play those games on your PS3 right now before you get the PS4? If so, then I get what you did. If not, and you're just going to hold on to the unopened titles so you can upgrade them to PS4 versions, well that makes little sense lol. The PS4 versions will be out Tuesday ahead of the PS4 release, and cost the same as the PS3 titles; $59.99. No need to pay the money on the PS3 titles and then pay an additional $10 just for the PS4 version...

Unless of course Target's deal does indeed exclude PS4 titles. Then it may have been worth it at $50 each for the PS4 versions... You save $10 on each title that way.

I don't think we're uninformed at all. I think it's fairly obvious that this is a Blu-Ray MOVIE forum, and there are forums for games on blu-Ray discs.

The sign I saw stated XBox360, PS4, Wii U, Wii & PC games, it didn't include PS4 as far as I remember. I'll defiantly play a couple before, as I didn't make a pre-order for my PS4 until a month or so after the Day One Guarantee date. I'm hoping that I'll get one, but it might be a bit after so I can continue to play them now until I get my PS4.

And I'm torn when I do upgrade, whether to trade it in at EB Games and get teh physical media, or keep the PS3 version and go the download route. I'd prefer to have the PS4 Physical Media, but then I lost he PS3 Version. If I go without then I can play it on both systems.

While I agree with you, I also disagree. I don't browse the games forum, is there even a video Games Deal forum for Canada? I think if a really great deal is available in Canada, it doesn't hurt to post it, unless of course it does become a problem.

But seriously this is one of the if not the best promo FS/BB has ever run. Thought I would mention it somewhere that people would notice. Which Canadians actually even check the video games deals sub-forum? There is actually a Canadian video games deal thread there but it has only had 63 posts in the span of 3 and a half years. Plus its not like there are any good movie deals at FS/BB currently.

But it was in the rules and could be interpreted as 3 different games at once. I think it's fair. You just had to get up early.

I walked in the front door, heard "2 hour+ wait", and left... my time is worth more to me.

It's a fact of life I guess, people will always take advantage of deals like this. But also bb/FS allowed them the three games so it was dumb on their part.

That does sound like a crazy deal.

Can you explain the upgrading? If you buy PS3 version now, can you then upgrade it later to the PS4 version?

Why not just get the PS4 version now, the console comes out in less than a week. Is it just to give you 5 extra days of playing time?

Or do you get to keep both the PS3 and PS4 versions?

I think you are right, the clear intent of a "blu-ray" deals is for movies not games, and if there's a game thread that's probably where it should have gone. But everything seems disorganized anyway and the sale is over so it doesn't really matter.

Can someone spare my time of googling and reading thousands of console war sites and just tell me:

- will PS4 still provide blu-ray movie support? and if so, will it be good, or crippled in ways like the PS3?

- will Xbox finally support blu-ray after a mere 8 years? and if so, will you just be able to watch them or do have to buy some stupid accessory remote like they required on Xbox to allow DVD's to play.

Yes to the first question, you do have to connect your console to the internet one time only when you get it for blu support. No idea on the second but probably. There are many reasons why I could care less about XboxOne (spyware camera, 720p gaming etc) so that's why I can't answer your Xbox q.

Answering my own Q, I did a quick search, and as feared within the first few encountered a malicious script.

Anyway I may have this wrong, but supposedly as of Nov 11, they are saying:

Xbox One will play 2D blu-ray movies, after performing a major software download

PS4 will play 2D and 3D blu-ray movies, after a minor software download.

I'm somewhat surprised and impressed Xbox finally plays blu-ray movies, and without customers having to buy something a control, or license, or klunky add on box. Then again, $500 is not chump change either.

Of course it's 2D only and personally I wouldn't buy a 2D-only blu-ray player at this point, but I'm sure it's fine for a wide section of users.

I believe so. And I am sure it'll be better, I would think it would support HD audio and 3D at the same time, something I believe the PS3 does not do(It could be fixed by this point, IDK)
