Default The Tale of The Missing Camcorder

I have to face the strong possibility that a Panasonic Camcorder I sold on eBay last Saturday Night for nearly £300 has either gone missing, or has been stolen.

I made the trip to my local post office first thing last Monday morning, and had the parcel sent 1st Class Delivery.

Now I know many of you will say that I should have gone down the Recorded Delivery / Courier route ... and your right, in all honesty, I should have.

On the other hand though, until now, I have never had anything go missing, in terms of parcels / deliveries.

They say there's a first time for everything in life ... I really hope this doesn't turn out to be my first missing / stolen (sent) parcel

Not likely VH.

He's got 100% feedback, and we've been in constant contact over the matter via e-mail...he's as worried as I'am.

Hey, I'am aware that things like this do happen...especially on eBay.

But as I said in my original post...I've never had anything go missing or stolen in the post.

I ordered an item from Amazon last week that was lost in shipping. It happens.

I also have had delivered packages stolen in front of my door at a prior address.

Hope it works out for you, but either way - lesson learned hopefully.

Nether had I until this week and I have someone saying that against me.
Yes it does happen but as I said before I am sure I have ordered items from places as far way as The States,Hong Kong and Brazil and yet I estimate almost 2000 items have all arrived at my address.

I read a lot about it and there are more and more scammers on ebay now with the recession and ebay's "you will get your money back no matter what" policy.

All these people have to do it seem's is say it didn't arrive and the fact you have no recorded delivery I'm afraid your screwed and outta pocket when I am sure you sent the camcorder.

Look at how many gangsters are on the trading forum here, sad, really sad.it has finished me with helping out any members who are probably legit....the sad state of affairs I'm afraid.

All so very true.

This has been like a weight on my mind and shoulders all week...when/if this matter is ever closed, I will probably close my eBay account.

I wish ya luck with it but it doesn't look good.
I was for closing mine, the only thing holding me up,I was still waiting on three purchase's to arrive so I held off.
I now think that I will keep it open as it is always handy to buy from but I can assure you I will never sell on that hell hole scum bag assemble again!!!!

So you would advise keeping it open for possible buys?

I know what you mean now, regarding selling on there.

You will always need ebay before they need you...so yeah I would keep it open but for me personally,I have learnt my lesson.
I am not going to the shops, buying expensive envelopes, standing in queues, getting items posted for people to say it didn't arrive...
A certificate of posting isn't proof of delivery so it's back on me to sort it out..and be outta pocket,no way Jose,no more.
Feck that, not worth the hassle, screw them.

If you make a big sale on Ebay, you always should add insurance. If it's a small sale (like a bluray), you dont really need insurance because you wouldnt be losing too much money if it gets lost.

I thought Ebay REQIRES you to have delivery confimration with signature if the item sold was over a certain dollar amount. I think it is $300, but I am not sure. At least this is what my sister has told me. She and her husband are big Ebay sellers. They did at one time have someone claim they never received a package, but they always include delivery confirmation. Ebay sided with them, if someone had stolen the package, it was not their fault. Besides delivery confirmation is not expensive, especially if it give your peace of mind.

10 days gone now, and he says he still hasn't received it.

To be honest, I just want to have closure on this now and just give him a full refund. I just wish I could turn the clock back to a week last Monday...I really should have sent it recorded/insured or by courier.

I do seriously take on board what you said in your earlier posts regarding buyers on eBay, and I have now decided to keep my account open for the odd Blu-ray purchases, etc here and there...even though I have no proof that this buyer is messing me around, it really doesn't fill me with confidence going forward regarding eBay and selling.

So it's a full refund and have done with it...I'm not even going to bother reporting it to Royal Mail as I see it as a complete waste of time.
