Yeah that really is the release date. They should be almost done filming by now and should expect a teaser during the Super Bowl next year that's my guess.

6 & 7 were written together, and were originally set to shoot back to back. When that didn't happen, the turn around wasn't nearly as quick, but they found a way and got going quick enough to do it just over a year after the last. Thankfully, it isn't rushed, since they've had a script and everything else for so long. Hopefully the movie is epic as it's appearing to be from all these photos we're seeing.
