Examples of quality public domain releases (White Zombie, Nosferatu, etc in addition to above) are plentiful enough to debunk the myth that studios can not release public domain titles and make a profit. Going back to DVDs including Criterion Collection's Carnival of Souls and Night of the Living Dead I can't think of an example where a high quality edition of a public domain title has been ripped off by other studios/releases (i.e. budget Carnival of Souls releases retained their VHS grade quality, not stealing Criterion's output).
This. I find it hard to believe, even with the loss if a company steals their transfer, that highly requested titles like Night of the Living Dead, Last Man on Earth, House on Haunted Hill, ect. would still not sell more then most of their titles and in the end make them a nice little profit. Especially if they gave them stacked releases!

Yes Im joking about that... relax and enjoy movies
I actually wouldn't be surprised if it was Scorpion that picked it up. Walter saw how many people asked for its release on Blu in his respected thread and Walter actually listens to and respects his customers. Not to mention they already share several titles depending on format, such as Final Exam and Savage Streets.

And Newbury comics? No wonder the price was so high. I'd love for places like that to stay in business, but it's hard not to use them as 'window shop only' locations when prices are so much lower online. *sigh* It doesn't bode well for our economy.

On the flip side, hopefully Amazon's Body Bags shortage means Scream titles are a big hit in general.
I'm not too sad. I got The Man Who Wasn't There (Coens), Class, Zapped, Valley Girl, The Rachel Papers, Losin' It, and The Last American Virgin for less than $20.

I was wondering this myself. It looks like I won't be getting BODY BAGS from Amazon until December. What the heck happened?

Any one ever receive a duplicate order/mismailing from Shout Factory? If so how did they handle it?

I received two separate packages for the Nest Blu-ray (ordered during the Fright sale). Upon further inspection, even though both were mailed to me, one of the invoices is for another person.

I just emailed them about it but will have to wait until tomorrow at the earliest to hopefully hear back on how they'll handle it.

Thanks. It probably won't look anything like this when it finally arrives, but I thought I would play around a bit with some artwork.

Anyone around here get their copy of Body Bags and notice a rather annoying audio issue. The audio has a noticeable distortion in the high end. It's most present on words with s in them (sibilants I guess this would be called). It is very present and takes you out of the film at a few points. I have noticed that it's present on all versions (DVD/Blu-ray) so I guess I'll have to live with it. I would just like to know if anyone else has noticed it because the review here on this site mentions nothing about it. A little inside info on the release would ease my concerns as well. Unfortunately, I am starting to notice a disturbing lack of QC on some of the releases. I'm sure it's because they are pumping them out but it would be nice to be aware of this stuff ahead of time. Prince of Darkness has slight sync issues, Phantasm 2 has a video wear line, Some of the discs don't contain the proper audio tracks that are mentioned on the box (Roadie for instance, I know this isn't Scream but it's still Shout), Now Body Bags seems to have pretty crappy audio. I want all these releases as much as the next guy but it is making me a bit weary on future releases. Any info would be appreciated.

^^^^ Yeah I noticed the audio issue as well. Its very evident in the Gas Station story, especially in the beginning and especially when the woman talks.....though you can hear it from time to time through the whole movie.

I should add that I only listened to the 2.0 DTS HD track though.

It's on both tracks (5.1 as well). Oh well I guess it's not just me. I didn't think it was but I just found it weird the review on this site said this about the audio "Dialogue is very cleanly presented and both tracks offer excellent fidelity". That wouldn't be my idea of "cleanly presented". It must be the elements they had to deal with. A little annoying though. I hope it's not something to do with the audio facility they are using. I'd hate for this to start popping up on future releases as well.

Night of the Comet is. If you don't believe me, watch the episode of Good Bad Flicks about it.

They all are, but that's just one mans opinion. Each one is special in it's own way. I realize that is like your friend setting you up on a blind date and telling you she has a great personality, but life is a gamble my friend.

You did the right thing - email their customer service and let them know you have someone else's order. They will get back to you...sometimes they are overloaded with orders

Assault on Precinct 13 is an easy recommendation. It's one of my favorite Carpenter films and one of my favorite soundtracks. It's not typically classified as a horror film (it's an action-thriller as far as I'm concerned), so it sort of fits the Scream Factory line like a square peg into a round hole, but it's a great film nonetheless.

Yay on Night of the Comet and Assault on Precinct 13.

I would bypass The Horror Show. It's really pretty awful and drags. The writer took his name off it ("Alan Smithee" is one of the credited scribes) and the original director was canned...it's kind of slapdash, like a really bad Freddy imitation, but without the entertainment value. I wish they had released Wes Craven's Shocker which came out the same year and has the same basic premise...but is a lot more fun.
