Heck if my iPad can get 19mb/s on "N" 99% of the time! I don't see why not the PS4 can't give me that. Also the router is fairly close on the same level.

Speaking of...

I wonder if we will get an est. Internet speed under Test Connection like we do with PS3 now?
Pretty sure I saw it in the online manual.

That'd be nice to have, but as soon as the PS3 was infected with Cinavia, I stopped using it to play video files. The WD Live media player can play pretty much any video file, has options to turn on and turn off subs, select different audio tracks, and most important of all - it's not infected with Cinavia - which the PS4 will most definitely have.

PS4 day-one update adds USB headset compatibility

The day-one PS4 firmware update - version 1.50 - will add support for USB headsets, Sony has confirmed.

Out of the box, PS4 will lack support for third-party bluetooth and USB headsets for in-game or group chat, but a launch-day system update will enable USB headsets.

This is an advance on the firm's original messaging, as it had previously pledged to add USB headset support with a post-launch update.

Bluetooth headsets will remain incompatible, and there's no word on whether that may change with a later update.

PS4 firmware update 1.50 will enable a long list of major system features, and is available to download now for US PS4s. The update can be written to a USB stick in advance of the console's US launch on Friday, which will allow for a quicker update process once the owners get their machines home.

The PS4 will need to be placed in Safe Mode to install the update via USB. Head through here for full instructions.

Thanks for that info Mavrick. Good to know that's an option rather than having to go through the PS4 only.

Question PS4 versions December and >2014

Will the new firmware still need to be downloaded? Assuming the versions that don't are a fresh batch?

I would imagine so....I would also imagine there would be different HDD versions of the PS4 coming out later next year....maybe different colors?

The 1.5 update won't be released to manufacturing until they are 100% sure it doesn't have any issues. Once they are sure it will be sent out and from then it will take 6-8 weeks for those units to filter out. By about early 2014 the 1.5 update will come pre-installed, but by then the latest version number could be a bit higher so it will still require a day one patch.

It won't be until 2015 that the PS4 won't require a patch on first turning it on because software features are going to be added quite quickly from now until then so there will be multiple updates. Early in the PS3 lifecycle there was an update every 5 weeks, newly completed features were built into the OS every 5 weeks and it was pushed down. I expect a similar type of development this time as well.

This is taking forever. I wish I would've gone the USB route. Oh well I'm getting a new internet provider Monday.

Yeah I'm kinda bummed about the not so next gen WiFi N

My tests give me 6mb/s & the actual MB counter on a PS4 download is around 1MB/s

At least I can play & finish games before the download is complete.

My PS3 on b/g downloads faster than PS4.

Seriously though, I hope Sony adds external dual band adapters like Xbox 360. I was shocked that the PS4 wasn't internal dual band like um.. iPads. Fingers crossed cuz I want 20mb not 1mb

It took me a good 5-6 hours to install this update earlier, glad it finally got installed though.

Same here. About 2 minutes. The ambient music made it seem like 3 minutes though.
