Default The Devil's Brigade- Region Free?

I was looking around some import web sites and saw "The Devil's Brigade" on blu-ray as part of Veg/Shock's Hollywood Gold Series. I did a quick search and found it, apparently Region Free, on WOWHD's website (http://www.wowhd.com.au/blu-ray/devi...988317#bc=fd96).

However, when I tried to order it the WOWHD site stated that it couldn't be shipped to the US. I've not seen a Region Free version of this title anywhere else.

Questions: does anyone know if the WOWHD site was accurate and this actually is a region-free available title (no region free listings on blu-ray.com) and, if it is available region-free, does anyone know of any other importers that might carry it?

Thanks!!!!

I don't know if their listing is accurate, but if you can't order from them, try JB Hi-Fi, they have it for less:

Let us know when you find out for certain if it's region free. This is one of my favorite war films and would love to dump the DVD for a proper BD.

Thanks! I've sent JB Hi-Fi an email to determine if they have a region-free version. I will post back when I hear from them.

Update: JBHiFi has not yet responded but WOWHD did. They DO carry the region-free blu ray of The Devil's Brigade but WILL NOT ship it to the US. Although they have a US version of their site, this film is not listed on it (only the DVD version). I asked why they shipped some items to the US but not this one (and others I'm sure) and their response was they were "prohibited" from shipping certain items to the US.

The good news I take from all that is that a region-free disc does exist, now just a matter of tracking one down.

I'm looking to get those 2 titles too, do you see any other goodies to get on this 20% off sale?

I've bought 1 time from them & got Foyle's War - Seasons 1 - 7 (Blu-ray) & it's even cheaper now then when I bought it!

THE DEVILS' BRIGADE is about Canadian and American soldiers....so it figures that Canada and The United States would be the two places that DON'T have a Blu-ray release of the movie.

I ordered this from JBHIFI and it shipped today. Although I could find no clear indication that it is Region Free, I recently ordered the Hollywood Gold Series version of Hitchcock's "Lifeboat". When it arrived, the case is clearly labeled as Region B only, but it played perfectly in my Panasonic blu-ray player (which isn't region-free). Also knowing that the "Journey to the Center of the Earth" blu from the Hollywood Gold Series is region-free is leading me to believe that many, if not all, of the Hollywood Gold Series blu-rays are actually region-free even though many are labled Region B.

At least that's my thought and I guess I'll find out once "The Devil's Brigade" arrives.

Very curious with these Hollywood Gold Series releases. I see them in some places listed as "region-free" and others as Region B only. After I read your post, I checked my Panny blu ray with another old Region B disc I had ordered by mistake and it would not play so my player is definitely region locked. But the LifeBoat blu is clearly labeled as Region B and plays fine. Keeping my fingers crossed for The Devil's Brigade when it arrives!

Received these by in the mail yesterday!

The Godzilla - Final Wars disc was loose in the set(looked scratched & smeared) & went into mode! Cleaned it off(it still looked basically the same) & it played fantastic & looked great upscaled !!

atfree, let me know if you want info on region-free bd players, I'll be happy to help!!!

Received "The Devil's Brigade" over the weekend. As with the "Lifeboat" Hollywood Gold Series, the case and disc both show as Region B. But, I popped it in my Panny Region A player and it played without issue.

Beginning to think all the Shock/Veg Blu-rays in this Hollywood Gold Series are actually region-free. I'm going to pick-up the 1958 version of "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" next. From what I've read, it's the same transfer that Twilight Time released here in the States. But the Shock/Veg version can be had for $13.90 GBP (about $18 USD) on Amazon UK vs. paying over $100 to a third-party for the Twilight Time version which sold-out.

That's good to know. I will definitely be importing this in the next few months if there is no US release date announced.
