Hi all,
I heard that this new model will be delayed, at least in Denmark, because Samsung has decided to make it a 2.0 profile player instead.

Wal-Mart will be carrying the BD-P1500 also. my store has them on order with an eta around the 3rd week of may. the price in the system is $348. I own the 1400 and like it but will probably upgrade to the 1500 because as an employee i'll get an extra 10% off.

Although I love my 1400 and have enjoyed it also, I'll be upgrading to the 1500. That is one sweet looking rig! Love the sleek design.

Exactly...less is more as they say.

I love the simplicity of it. Its not trying to confuse the consumer. Its easy to see where the buttons, etc.

The perfect scheme IMO. Now all I want to know is the specs...

Default Hey mel

Do you know if all walmarts and the website are scheduled to get this player around that time or do different walmart's have different estimated times of arrival?

I'm confused on the specs though. The review on the link posted states analog 5.1 connections, but the photo I saw of the back has no analog connections (other than 2 channel).

I wonder if loading discs into the 1500 will be the same as it is for 1200?

To load a disc into the 1200 you need to do the following: First turn the unit upside down and pat it three times on its bottom (as if it were a new born) not too hard, or too soft. Second, you will need to flip the unit back to its up-right position and rotate it three times counter clockwise. Note: your unit must be hooked up to your TV, Power, and Sound system while rotating it. Now comes the hard part, you need to load the latest firmware upgrade disc and wait, (“Patience is a Virtue“) and wait, and wait… For this part I would suggest you plan a two week vacation, so you know that you did not eject the disc too soon.

If you get back from your two week vacation, and find that the disc is stuck in your unit do the following: Take two aspirins, get a good nights sleep, and throw your 1200 out the window in the morning.

Default You can preorder this player

from Crutchfield for $449. But, you will have to call or do a live chat with a salesman to do that. Searching for the player yourself will yield no results.

I seriously doubt they will base anything of the 1500 off the 1200. I had the 1200 before I returned it for the 1400 and that has got to be one of the most problematic players on the market today. I don't know what the hell Samsung did to that thing, but it definitely is the BDP from hell.

I think it may actually need an exorcism.

$449? No thanks. The specs listed on this site says the retail price is $399.

All supercenter wal-marts will be carrying it. the upc is 3672560796. go into your local wal-mart supercenter electronics department and have them check that number. we are also carrying the funai/magnavox NB500 for $298 and the panasonic BD30 for $448.

Default thanks the information

mel. That is very helpful. I will definately have to ask my local Walmart about this. I figured the sylvania blu ray would be carried but hadn't seen it listed. Are the Panasonic BD30 and Sylvania NB500 going to be available around the time or sooner?

the sylvania NB500 is the same as the magnavox NB500. Funai slaps different badge names on both and sells them to different retailers. Both are active in the system and on order. should receive them any day now. no later than may 10th.

On the best buy website it says Dolby True HD (two channel) Does that mean it will only decode TrueHD in two channel but will bitstream it in multichannel?

Yes, that's exactly what that means. Most people would want their receivers to do the decoding anyway, so this is not really a hindrance.
