I'm no expert on Australian classifications. But the M classification is truly bizarre in its breadth and scope, and it seems that this is because there was no MA15+ certification until 1993. So it's highly likely that while the first two (and arguably most violent and bloody) Die Hard films received M certs on original release, those same films today would easily be MA15+. So the film proper retains its original cert, but when violent footage from that film has to be re-used in a new film or video, it would naturally cause the new work to get an MA15+, in line with current standards.

That being said, the DH5 Blu contains a featurette called 'Maximum McClane', which seems to just be a compilation of some of the first four movies' most violent/coarse moments, yet that BD retains an M. Also of interest - wasn't the Australian theatrical release of DH5 censored for an M rating? But the film appears on BD uncensored, and yet still is an M? |

The list of very odd M cert titles is numerous, especially violent action films from the late 80 to the early 90s. The first three Lethal Weapon movies (the fourth, which released in 1998, is MA15+), Predator, Red Heat, the first three Rambo films, even Hellraiser--yes Hellraiser--all of these are M certs which should probably be MA15+ (or in the case of Hellraiser, R18+, I really don't know what happened there).

Predator also looks kinda goofy with its M rating when placed alongside the (previously?) R-rated sequel. |

Roadshow cut Hellraiser down from an R to M for its cinema release, then released it uncut for VHS.

Isn't this the one you're looking for?
http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/d...lection/692066 Seems like there's plenty of copies around in store still, according to the in-store pickup tab. |

Crap, how could I miss that! That is weird that it doesn't list any in stores. In case anyone after a copy is near Top Ryde, I know they have a couple of copies in stock (of the Blu-ray!).
