![]() I don't know whether this is an isolated score -- am hoping for a review -- oh, if the cover is enlarged it does state, "Original Soundtrack." Last edited by joie; 11-18-2013 at 11:59 PM. |

I watched my Blu-ray set of The Three Colors Trilogy a few months back, but never did write up an extensive review. I tried a couple of times, but could not find any way to put my thoughts into words. I guess that's a good thing. Elevator to the Gallows is my favorite Louis Malle film by far. Jeanne Moreau and the Miles Davis score... So classic. |

Still find it sad that titles like John Sayles' City of Hope (which never received a US DVD release), Lynch's Elephant Man, and the gets of the 50s-60s Godzilla films were all announced by Criterion back in the Laserdisc days but never happened, not even on DVD.

Bad news: Ridley Scott's The Counselor bummed me out at the theater earlier this evening.
Good news: Billy Wilder's Sabrina cheered me up when I arrived home from the theater. I watched the region free UK Blu-ray of Sabrina, and it's quite excellent, but I'd double-dip in a hurry if Criterion were to release it on these shores. Sabrina would make a fine double feature with the Criterion Blu-ray of Charade, and not just because of the "Audrey Hepburn with an older man" story element. |

Hey everyone, I think I'm going to watch Naked Lunch tonight for the second time (the first time I saw it years ago I found it interesting). I'm going to tear open the plastic shrinkwrap on there later and watch it. Does anyone here not like this movie?
Also, I have a new avatar now...its from a movie that has yet to be released in theaters! (I also did a bit of "photoshopping" with a hue/saturation adjustment) ![]() |

Short of picking up Tokyo Story sometime this week or next, I think I've got all of the Criterions that interest me thus far! Mann's Thief, Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion, Throne of Blood, and Foreign Correspondent will lure me back in though, in the coming months.

It's definitely my favorite between Blue and white so far. The performances were wonderful, the comedy was extremely funny and the film has an ending to be proud of. I also loved [Show spoiler] Overall, Three Colors: White is my favorite of the trilogy so far and I highly recommend a viewing! 5/5 ![]() |

I love the preview for the film in question. Think Kiss Me Deadly combined with Solaris. |

There was also a separate sequence with the name Criterion Television, that had five unnumbered releases, and another separate sequence called Rolling Thunder, in which they offered three titles "presented by" Quentin Tarantino's Rolling Thunder company. Quote:
The rarest (and most expensive) release was #159: The Prince of Tides. It had already started pressing when Barbra Streisand decided she didn't like some parts of the audio commentary that she'd done for it. Criterion had to stop pressing, record a new commentary with Streisand, re-author the disc, and make a new pressing. It was released two years later with a new commentary track, and a new spine number: #227. Though the original pressing was never officially released, some number of copies (believed to be less than 100) made their way into the collector's market. When copies came up for sale, they generally went for $350-450. Have fun! Last edited by jayembee; 11-19-2013 at 02:20 AM. |
