I thought for sure the right looked a tad better........as did a group of filmmakers - take another look.

The way the file is labelled has nothing to do with it.
Some fellow blu-ray member sent me this link and I think I inadvertently deleted his PM so I've got to do a little search on the internet to find which dang forum this came from.

Gotta say, I liked the left better as well. I thought it was a sharper image.

Aah! I still see the left as looking better, but when I get home I'll check it out on my 19-inch widescreen LCD monitor, or convert it to AVC and check it out on the PS3.

I will admit that when paused at the beginning of the file, the right does appear sharper. I just see the left as being sharper on this monitor when playing...

And I had this clue thing all typed up on my word processor to post tomorrow - just in case there were any inquiring minds. Well here goes anyway...............

I’ll make this easier than the epic that I hinted that is pigeon-holed to undergo a complete digital restoration for digital archival purposes and may indeed have some influence on an eventual Blu-ray release in 2009 or 2010 (I’m hoping late ’09).

Anyway………….
1. He was born in Papette. (On a personal note, the last time I was there, my wife *encouraged* me to buy her a necklace of black pearls equaling the MSRP of my Qualia 006 with stand………$15,755). Her reasoning….”You bought yourself a new toy, I think I deserve something new too!”

2. He was named after Joseph Conrad, for you literary types that can read as well as watch dem moving pictures.

3. He was one of a distinguished list of previous participants in UCLA's Kodak Cinematographers in Residence program at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television ,………other notables include Roger Deakins, Dean Cundey, Allen Daviau, Laszlo Kovacs, Owen Roizman, Joan Churchill, Stephen Burum and currently Victor J. Kemper.

4. He passed away about 3 months before winning the Academy Award for Best Cinematography earlier this decade.

5. He is one of only 6 (that I know of) cinematographers that received a star on Hollywood Blvd.

6. His Dad wrote……. “Muntiny on the Bounty”.

7. His friends called him “Connie” and he is one of the most intuitive, talented D.P.’s that I ever had the chance of meeting (perhaps *the best*).......definitely my most favorite........................Ben.

Found it.

I think you guys have eyes for expensive toys. (the Red is on the left).
All the lensers picked the right as being the Red (and by insinuation, the better image).

Hey Bill,

Now that Paramount has announced some titles and that list didnt include Transformers, is it possible that Paramount may just decide to wait until Transformers 2 (like what WB is doing for Batman Begins) to release it? As much as I hate to say it, thats what I would do if I were them in order to maximize sales.

What do you think? Any insider can feel free to chime in.

Im very shocked that Blades of Glory wasnt included on that list. I would think they would try and release it to coincide with Semi-Pro.

The hair on the left side has better definition, look when he turns to the right, individual hairs and the tattoo on his arm have better definition, and I still don't like the red push on the image on the right

Again, it may be the difference in angles, since there's a single lighting setup, but I stand by preferring the one on the left

They haven't said. I would imagine sooner rather than later for the stuff they have stock on that's come out before

Careful, with that presumption.

I don’t know if everyone here would agree to the notion that The Birds was an “epic” film.

Certainly not. It does have some flaws other "epics" do not have.

Hey Guys,

Obviously by now, you've all seen the Paramount news. I'm told that this is just the beginning - there are many more titles in various stages of planning and production at the studio, so there will be more announcements in the weeks ahead. I've also learned that the studio has decided to support Dolby TrueHD audio on their BD releases as standard going forward, though some titles that were originally authored (but not released) last year will still trickle out without it initially.

Yes. Many of them (we bet all of them) will start reappearing on stores shelves on 5/20. I've posted an initial list of titles on The Bits today, just relisted on the studio's press site.

I have a feeling Transformers will be out fairly soon. Blades of Glory IS finally arriving on Blu-ray on 5/20 - I'm surprised it wasn't part of the announcement, but the studio press site now shows it streeting on that date. Since Blades of Glory, Next and Face/Off are all on tap finally, I would guess the other two previously cancelled BD titles (which were already virtually done) will show up quickly as well - Top Gun and The Jack Ryan Collection.

i think Transformers probably will be released on the week of Batman Begins release. It would make sense since warner will make lot money on that week and Paramount will want to too..
am hoping for Transformers and the cartoon with SDH.

That's absolutely the wrong week to release it then, because people will be buying batman. You release it on a week where there's no competition
