I gave them back to my brother. I used the Quintet III's for a week, but found them to be a bit of a downgrade going from floorstanding speakers to satellites. I ended up moving the entertainment cabinet in my bedroom 100mm to the left, by doing this I managed to just fit in my Sony floor standing speakers. Apparently the Quintet 4's and 5's are quite a bit better than the III's. I assume your father in law bought the 5's, as they are the current model?

That's no good to hear mate. Is your insurance covering it? If so, what models have they offered to replace them with, or are they allowing you to choose the model tv's you want?

Does anyone else get annoyed that the American blu-rays are thinner than the Australian ones in your collection? I'd be buying up all these movies but it's just a small thing that annoys me.

Yeah, I bought it on impulse, I've watched it, now I think I'll sell it.

Not that it's bad, exactly — technically it's really impressive — but the story didn't do it for me. I never cared at any point what was going to happen next. (Actually, it started out impressively, and was quite creepy, but once
[Show spoiler]they first reached the refuge ship
, the whole thing stalled for me. (One tiny chuckle: Peter Capaldi plays a small character role that is billed as "WHO Doctor"! )

BD-wise ... well, the colour bothered me. There's a cast to the palette (sometimes a dusky lemon-lime, sometimes like blue lemonade) that has almost no apparent reason or consistency to it in the context of story (fair enough in the Lab, maybe, where they're under artificial light, be even there it's not consistent), and it's far more pronounced on this transfer than it was at the flicks, so I'm assuming it's there for technical reasons (controlling colour bloom) rather than artistic ones. Either way, it's a fairly pointless fad, and I *really* hope it goes away soon.

My introduction to HD was after my old CRT started making strange noises, the other half found a cheap HDTV the next day and I thought how I've got a new fancy TV.

Heard about optimizing your HDTV and I bought a cheap BD player+HDMI cable and a receiver over the space of a year and , , , , BAM.

My Guitar Hero phase was over and my BLU-RAY phase began. The picture(initially, still own same HDTV)was great, the audio made it even better.

Under the right conditions my lounge room can feel just like the cinema I go to.

PS. Just watching my BD's has shown how bad my "CHEAP HDTV" really is.I need a new one.

Moral of the story , , , Them other people don't know what the're missing.

Eh.

Ordered the Universal Monsters: Essential Collection from Amazon UK. $38! Great lightening deal. I've found UK have had a lot better lightening deals than the US.

You aren't alone... though I think most members on here prefer them for their space saving ability. I say to that!

I keep all my US editions on separate shelves, makes things look a little more organised.

I don't know yet. Haven't got that far. I put in a claim. They are sending someone on Tuesday.

Agreed. In a good or bad way?

I thought it was fantastic. An assault on the senses.

Last Black Friday order:

Managed to get Big Bang and Revolution in the Lightning Deals. Couldn't pass up The Conjuring at $8. I have the Zavvi steelbook pre-ordered 'cause it's the only release with the poster as artwork but it'll be almost $30. Will look around for some custom covers i think.

BTW, all my orders say they'll arrive before Christmas. We'll see.

I wasn't a fan. I love a good gritty crime drama, and the violence was brutal but not the worst I've seen, it was just too dreamlike to hold my attention - I was fast forwarding most of it. Oh yeah, what was with the friggin musical numbers???

What did Revolution get down to? I've seen some of Season 1 and it actually looked pretty good..

Can't believe the $8 price for Conjuring.. that's amazing considering its a new release. I paid $22 or $24 lol

ps - try out the [*BD] [/BD] tags, it's really handy for other members when posting about your recent purchases.. just insert the numbers at the end of the URL for each film.. ie; movies/12-Monkeys-Blu-ray/11024/

Revolution was $10. It's a pretty good show. I'm enjoying S2 as much as S1.

I don't tend to use [BD] tags 'cause i sometimes use Tapatalk and they don't show up. You just see the number. Quite frustrating. BTW, does anyone know if that's something the Tapatalk makers would need to change or the mods of this forum?
