Artist Joel Robinson announced on Facebook that he's beginning work on a cover for Shout Factory.

His artwork was used on the cover of the Vincent Price boxset... so does this mean, we're getting a volume 2?

Or could he be doing artwork for a completely different title entirely?

He tagged Shout Factory specifically, so it may not even be a Scream title at all.

Either way, whatever it is will have pretty great artwork. Joel rocks!

Every Shout release so far has used the original art, so it has to be a CE Scream release. It's also way too early for a second Price set.

So who's going to actually buy this Ginger Snaps blu ray? And what are the chances of a top notch transfer?? Hopefully they bring the original cinematographer on board, a la Arrow Films.

Looks like i'm going to have to finally give in and save up for a region free blu ray player unless I hear that Arrow in the UK are going to release it.

I'm guessing the Joel Robinson art is for Ginger Snaps, as he's already designed a poster for the film.

We were asked for top 5 so I went through my DVD/VHS collection looking for MGM titles that have not had the blu treatment. Asking for an MGM wishlist almost guarantees obsure titles because the popular titles have already been released. Right?

Definitely looks like he'd do the film justice, if it looks anything like this poster.

That.Looks.BRILLIANT.

This bloke seems very talented. Ah man, for once in my life I wish I was a yank. Can't believe i'm going to have to pay over 150 quid in order to watch this on blu ray. Things you do for love though innit.

Do Shout! Factory blu ray's come with booklets and reverse slips like Arrow blu rays then?

Sorry, if I'm late to the game on this issue, but is it just more or is the "Interview" with Carpenter and Stoker more of just a filming of a Q&A session here on this new disc and not the same "talking heads" interview that was featured on the previous disc?

I've never actually seen this movie, despite having owned the DVD for years at this point. I'll probably check it out this weekend to see if the upgrade is worth it.

The Q&A with Carpenter and Stoker is the same, but the Scream Factory edition of Assault on Precinct 13 also features new (and excellent) interviews with Stoker and Nancy Loomis. I also enjoyed checking out the new Tommy Wallace commentary track last night after I revisited the film.

Yeah I own it, I just thought there was a different interview thing that was on the Image disc that isn't featured here. Guess I'm wrong.

EDIT - Nevermind, I guess it is featured maybe the menu was screwing with me last night or something. I don't know this release seems a little screwy to me.

I'm skeptical about how much improvement Scream Factory in picture quality for their release of Dog Soldiers (since SF rarely remasters transfers), so will point out that the initial blu-ray for Dog Soldiers is on sale at Fry's (frys.com) for $3.99.

Here's image quality concerns from blu-ray.com review.
Quote:
It must be taken into account, however, that Dog Soldiers wasn't shot to look, nor was it intended to be, glossy and colorful. The 16mm film stock combined with plenty of nighttime and otherwise darkened shots and a deliberately drab color palette that features primarily blacks, grays, browns, and dark greens, just doesn't add up to equal visual bliss. Still, the image is riddled with terrible edge enhancement that makes many objects -- particularly trees -- appear to have thick force fields around them. The print is marred with plenty of nicks, scratches, a few odd vertical and horizontal lines, and random debris. Sharpness is minimal; in fact, much of the film looks soft, with several scenes appearing downright fuzzy and borderline indistinct. Grain appears heavily throughout. Though this -- or any -- transfer must be given some leeway for the gritty original elements, this Blu-ray release of Dog Soldiers nevertheless features plenty of other issues that drag the rating down considerably.

The menu for Assault on Precinct 13 worked on my Blu-ray player, but it was slower to respond, and I occasionally had to wait a second after pushing a button on my remote. All of the content is happily there, though.

I think they'll almost certainly do a new HD master.
No way in hell they'd use the current blu-ray's transfer.

Generally, especially when they are re-releasing films on blu-ray, they dont use transfers that are already branded "sh!tty".

Oi oi, i've met my twin! Lol, nice avatar yourself, mate.

I couldn't recommend Ginger Snaps enough. It's a smart subversive drama that uses horror thropes and lycan mythology to highlight teenage and social outcast issues, and it's done in a way that's not only entertaining and exciting, but in a way that's thought provoking too.

For me the real punch is the tragic consequences of the film and how the bond between the sisters is threatened. It's not just a cerebral film, it's an emotionally exhausting one, and those two combinations are a lot rarer than you think.

If theres one criticism I can level at Ginger Snaps it's that it's not scary, but I don't think it's Fawcett concentrated on the fear factor at all, and in the end, he didn't have to because if you didn't already get the message THIS IS A FANTASTIC FILM.

Since you're a Buffy fan too, you'll love the dialogue which is uncannily Whedonesque. As a first time watching though, I would rate for the blu ray to watch it in the best quality possible, mate.

I just hope Scream don't DNR the film like the did with They Live.
