^ Good luck! I've had some good luck this year which is funny because my luck has always appeared to be pretty crap. Good to see a turnaround!

Yeah - considering some of my favourite films are period pieces (Shawshank Redemption, Zodiac, Argo) and the fact that I'm a big fan of a number of the cast it looks like it'll be plenty enjoyable.

I enter a few a week. Just on facebook and some movie sites. I'm not one of those people whose "job" is entering competitions and that's all they do.

Only takes about 5 minutes to do all of them and so far this year I've done very well. I only go in ones I really want too. Bugs me when you see people winning stuff they have no interest in just for the hell of it.

Makes sense. Either way, well done mate.

Haven't ventured into a Facebook account, myself. I have something of an ideological issue with the whole social media thing.

I do the same only takes a few minutes a week, of the 37 movies I've seen in theatre this year only 8 were paid for.

A little? I'm a huge Star Trek fan but season three suffered big time from budget cuts and the writing wasn't immune. Wait for the space hippies though! Make's Spock's Brain look like a masterpiece in my opinion!

in 1994 ui became a HUGE fan of Killer Instinct, an arcade fighter game with sublime visuals and especially sound.

(if you've seen the Bane parody video, you'll know this is where "combo breaker" originated)

so now an official sequel is released on the new Xbox

massive nostalgic pangs watching this, looks good.

I did a massive amount of rearranging, and I alphabetised my entire movie collection, in a bid to make more space for Blu-rays.

Now I'm fast running out of room after Black Friday, JB's 20% off sale, and Big W's half-price sale.

God help me.

Actually, that's not true. I share your pain.

Is anyone in Sydney planning to go the new Wet & Wild this summer? I checked out the ticket pricing earlier, it's certainly not cheap, for a whole family it would cost a few hundred dollars for the day. A season pass would be the better way to go, if you can get your hands on one.

We looked into it but it's a little pricey. I'm guessing that next year we'll see some deals come out. At the moment they'll have no trouble getting people through the doors so the prices will stay put but I expect we'll see deals on Shop-a-Dockets and in Entertainment Books within the next year which will make it a bit better value for those not planning to go regularly.

Folks: If you read the thread earlier you'll have seen I scored a double pass to the premiere of American Hustle tomorrow night at George St Event Cinemas. The short story is that my wife (and other family/friends can't go for work/family reasons) so I've got an extra ticket for a guest of mine.

If someone's interested in going along PM me to discuss details. You'd need to be at the cinema a little prior to 6pm.

Does anyone know if its normal for there to be interference between a Blu-Ray player with a internal volume control, and a home theater set up? Because today out of general curiosity, I turned down the volume on my Blu-Ray player directly by a couple of notches whist watching something. Anyway a minute later I started getting these horrible crackling sounds from my speakers and I couldn't get it to stop. Eventually I turned back the volume setting on my Blu-Ray player back to its usual position which its always been left on before, and a few seconds later the crackling noises stopped and my home theater was functioning like normal again. Anyway is it possible that there was a bad cross connection between the 2 or something?
