Not sure if they changed the set, but I bought this a few years ago and The Matrix came with a digital copy on a DVD, but the sequels didn't. It sticks out in my mind because I threw the digital copy disc in the garbage and replaced it with the DVD.

Is "The Ultimate Matrix Collection" bluray set the most complete set available, as far as extras/bonus content go?

I read an Amazon review that said the bluray set doesn't include all of the extras the DVD set does, like the making of the freeway scene in Reloaded, for example. The reviewer said only a part of that extra is included in the bluray collection, but not all of it.

It is the most complete Blu-ray set. I do not know how it compares to the DVD set though.

As far as I know, everything is included.

Here's a break-down of the Car Chase doc from DVDcompare.net:

Car Chase:
- "Oakland Streets And Freeway" Unseen Footage (10:06)
- "Tour Of The Merovingian's Car Garage" featurette (2:08)
- "Queen Of The Road" featurette (3:16)
- "Arteries Of The Mega City: Visual Effects Of The Freeway Chase" featurette (11:52)
- "Foresight: Replanning The Mayhem" featurette (6:29)
- "Freeway Truck Crash: Anatomy Of A Shot" featurette (5:32)
- "Fate Of The Freeway" featurette (1:26)
- "Freeway Action Match" featurette (14:24)

And here's the break-down of the Blu-ray from highdefdigest:

Documentary: "Car Chase " - This runs 55 minutes total and compiles nine segments, each dissecting one particular aspect of 'Reloaded's action piece de resistance:

"Oakland Streets and Freeway" (10 min.),
"Tour of Meroinigian's Garage" (2 min.),
"Queen of the Road" (3 min.),
"Arteries of the Mega-City" (12 min.),
"Foresight: Preplanning the Mayhem" (6 min.),
"Freeway Truck Crash: Anatomy of a Shot" (5 min.),
"Fate of the Freeway" (2 min.)
"Freeway Action Match" (14 min.)

The numbers above are rounded, but no featurette is missing.

I thought about buying this, but when I bought by bluray player I got excited and bout the Matrix steelbook. Then I didn't know what to do about the sequels, since Revolutions doesn't have its own individual release. So I debated buying this set despite having the first film on blu already.

However, I then re watched the sequels on DVD, and realized how much they suck. Made my decision easy: just keep the first film.

The set includes the two sequels, Animatrix, and a mess load of special features. I'd say it's definitely worth double dipping. Push comes to shove, the steelbook would make a good display.

I wish that they would re-release this with a higher bit rate encode. This is a HD-DVD port from when Amir convinced WB to use VC-1. I see macroblocking everywhere in these encodes. Especially when there is a lot of on-screen motion.

I don't. I think all 3 movies look amazing.

To really see if it is there you need to pause the playback at the right timeframe (1:45:46) and frame advance over the glitch. THAT is when it really becomes obvious.

Anyone still looking for a replacement disc? Here is the phone number that I called to get mine: 1-800-553-6937 Keep in mind that this was nearly 2 years ago though. Not sure if the number is the same.
FINALLY got around to opening my set and checked out the discs for this issue and I am happy to report I didn't see any of this.

My set did not come with the digital copy. I would have preferred that it did......though I don't know why. I have yet to use a digital copy. lol

Me and you both. I have NEVER used a digital copy. I tried, the other day, to sign up for UltraViolet and get Despicable Me 2 on my Android Note 3, but that didn't work. It would only let me download in Windows Media or iTunes. Since iTunes is for iOS, I figured Windows Media was my best bet. I was wrong.

They are probably talking about the extra features included on the individual, pre-box set versions of The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.

it cannot be denied and there is proof

when they are eating and morpeheus says that neo is going to see the Oracle there is a shot on Dozer where a macroblocking is visible on both the DVD and BD

Well, there were two different transfers used for The Matrix on DVD (could have been identical masters). The first DVD release in 2000 contained the original gray/blue color scheme then with the sequels were released a few years later the transfer was changed to a green tint to match the two sequels. I owned that original DVD until the HD DVD was released and it was an entirely different animal color wise.

The dvd was the one that it has always been, i just noticed it, anyway they could easily just have been used the same master and just tweaked the colors, it all depends on if the masters is showing the same, e.g. macroblocking at the dozer scene

Default Can we get the TITLE updated?

Hey there, fellas (and ladies)

This one is directed at the mods....and if any of you fine people can help get it to their attention (if you agree, that is)

I'd like to propose a change to the Title Database with regards to how it organizes "The Ultimate Matrix Collection".

As it stands currently, when viewing our collections alphabetically, "The Ultimate Matrix Collection" doesn't show up in the M's like you'd expect it to. It shows up in the U's. When users take a look at their collection on this site and try to find "The Matrix", it won't be hanging out with Master & Commander - it's over there with U-571. I think that's wrong.

I propose a change be made to the database, allowing for the phrase "The Ultimate" to be added to the approved list of prefixes the database already intelligently disregards, like the word "The". (Which allows titles like "The Alien Anthology" to show up in the A's as opposed to in the T's)

If anyone wants to lend their voices to support this effort, please do....or if this is something worth debating, let's do that as well.

Thanks very much!

As it is a collection, and Ultimate is what the collection starts with, I don't see a reason for it not to be in the U section. the same way any collection that begins with The Complete will be in the C section rather than the respective title section. I personally sort my movies by genres/categories, rather than A-Z so I also haven't been annoyed by any of this
