United Kingdom Base.com

Anyone used this site? Are they reliable? Any issues? Do they sell UK releases or are they cheaper region B imports? Their prices always seem to be cheap

I use Base.com on occasion. They sell UK versions only. VAT is subtracted from international orders. Make sure you order directly from them and not a 3rd party vendor (including BaseCH) to get the VAT subtracted.

Yes i used them, they are reliable quite quick delivery,
packaging not the best though(use card envelope)
1 of my items was damaged and returned/replaced with no problems
they sell Official UK releases like Amazon,
there prices are cheap

I've ordered from them on several occasions. Aside from my copy of Rayman Origins being a bit warped, I haven't had any problems with them.

I've been using them quite a lot over the last several months. Seem to be the cheapest place to get MoC titles.

I've used them three times now and never had a problem. They have great prices. It's worth noting that they remove VAT for international customers AND they only charge £1.49 per single blu-ray. Works out wonderfully if you only want one. With amazon, you've got to order multiple items so the shipping works out nicely.

Hi guys,

Haven't posted in a while. Happy New Year!

Apologies if this is a stupid question but has anyone used these before and if so are they recommended?

They've got a good price on a blu-ray I want.

Thanks in advance!

I just ordered from them in late December and the blu was waiting for me when I returned from vacation. It was only one digipack blu though so it was in a soft cardboard envelope - not sure what they do for box sets, large orders, etc.

I used to use them and they were ok. Last year (within last 6 months or so) I ordered an item and there was no change in the progress of my order even though item was showing in stock. After a week I made a query and they informed me the item was sold out. Interestingly the price rose over the week and they mentioned it was third party sellers (even though it stated from base.com rather than the other sellers when I looked). A few days later they mentioned the item was back in stock but it was at a much higher price.

Anyhow, I won't be ordering from them again as they don't have a reliable stock indicator/lack of communication.

Dispatch/Delivery times are all over the place, pre-ordered an XB1 game and it arrived 3 days early but pre-ordered a Blu-ray and it didn't arrive until 3 days after release.

These card pouch mailers are pretty standard for UK BD etailers. Others who use them on standard size BDs (plastic case or digipack) include Amazon.co.uk and BBCShop. They are usually pretty good for standard packaged items, but give limited protection for steelbooks and with slipcases these can slide in transit and crush the edges.

I have used Base.com for many years, and they have bought up a number of other DVD sellers over the years. One word of warning for UK purchasers is they can sell items under £15 via their Swiss subsidary. This is to avoid VAT and as the item has to travel via Switzerland delivery can take a week rather than their more usual 2 to 3 days. What is annoying is they don't always indicate at time of purchase if an item is sold by Base.com (shipped within UK) or Base_CH (shipped via Switzerland).

Thoroughly reliable when I have used them. Always some excellent prices as well on certain titles compared to other stores.

I'd say they are more reliable than your usual Play/Rakuten store. If you order through their site it's easier to navigate and get in touch, and they often have good prices for stuff. But much like with anyone that isn't Amazon, their dispatch and postage time fluctuates so best to be patient.
