Well, another day has passed, and still no word on my receiver. I'm starting to go a little crazy with the pitiful sound of the TV speakers. To top it off, I had to send in the power brick for my XBoxOne. It was making a humming sound that I wasn't too fond of. So no music or movies for me in a while, and cable doesn't cut it. I have too many channels and nothing to watch. If it wasn't for my daughter and all her channels that she watches, I'd have nothing but the basics and the sports channels. Oh well, what do you do.

Just got the shipping notice for my XBoxOne power brick. They must have plugged it in, yup it's buzzing, and out goes a new one. It's not in UPS' system yet, but I'm excited now.

I'm thinking .......... We may have to invest in a backup system for moments like these .

I can't remember the last time I heard either one of my panels through their speakers

Even a cheap HTiB/Soundbar will sound light years ahead of the built in speakers

I'm lucky enough she lets me put all this stuff in the living room, I don't want to push it too much.

Power brick for the XBoxOne is on truck for delivery today!!! Can't wait to at least get back to some gaming and some movies.

Couldn't you just get a cheap soundbar that you leave it the closet until needed ? It'd be out of sight

Maybe. It all comes down to budget. And if it isn't in the budget, well, that's the answer. Not a bad idea though, I like the soundbar idea.

Soundbar isn't in the budget. And I'm still waiting on my receiver. It's been a long 3 weeks. I don't see me getting my receiver back until the new year. It's driving me crazy. But thanks for the concern Russ.

Got some cash from family, and I've been taking up my time not watching movies or gaming, by going out and listening to speakers. I'm almost sold on the B&W CM5's with the matching center. They sound wonderful, but I'm worried about the midrange on them a little. It sounds a little weak to me, but that could be the tuning on the Rotel they are attached to. I'm not sure it's been through the room tuning procedure, just wired and go. I'm going to go back some time next week, and ask about that. But they sound so sweet in the upper range, and the bass for a bookshelf is incredible. So tempting.

Happy new year everyone. So I got my receiver back yesterday, just before the shop closed, and they fixed half of what was wrong. It still doesn't display information when streaming music from my server. That was the main reason I sent it in, so now I have to pull it out again, and go through it all over again. Hopefully, being the second time for the same reason, they'll speed up the process, and I wont wait 5 weeks.

Anyways, I'm still listening to many different speakers, and I'm torn between the Monitor Audio RX6 silvers bookshelves, and the B&W CM5's. I'm going to take longer this time in making a decision than when I purchased my Focals', instead of jumping on a deal, I'll listen until I come to a final decision. Any opinions?

Do you mean the RX2’s, which are the bookshelf? Or are you listening to the newest set of Monitor Audio, which are just called Silver and not the RX?

I have the previous line of RX’s, and I have the RX2’s, with the center channel and RXFX’s surrounds.

Sorry to hear about the AVR fiasco Maybe they'll upgrade you for your troubles That's got to be quite a disgruntling ordeal to endure. I'm sure when they send it back next time, you'll be good to go

Great thinking with taking your time on a speaker selection. I wish I had some thoughts on the matter, but I haven't been to listen to new speakers in quite sometime. I'm confident however you'll come up with a choice that satifies your listing preferences.
