P&P on blu-ray is a treat. I revisit The Red Shoes and Black Narcissus fairly often. They get better with each viewing.

Bigger Than Life was DeLuxe but always comes to mind when I think of Technicolor. It looks absolutely fantastic but the synergy between the film's title, the film's subject matter and the literal film itself is just one more layer of 'do you see what we did there'.

I think that Martin Scorsese said in the "Red Shoes" extras that it had never looked as good because with a computer they were able to register the color layers better than they had ever been registered before.

I bought Red Shoes on blu. I was alittle tight on money almost bought C. Blimp and Black Narcissus for that B1F1 sale. How good are the bluray upgrades on those two vs DVD?

the P&P blu rays are some of the best looking in the entire collection.
The restoration on Colonel Blimp is especially beautiful.

I just finished Seconds.

I liked the first portion before Hamilton arrives to The Company, but not much else. I don't really see why everybody raves about it, but I guess that's just me.

I've never been a big fan for cult films, so I'm not really surprised by disliking this one.

The Rock Hudson piece was where I lost interest too. I plan on rewatching it over my Christmas vacation though.

It just turned out it was spelled under a different name on the website which I never would have thought of checking. I think there is some truth to these new releases being immediately reserved and unavailable on the shelves though.

Well, I ended up going to B&N earlier today and purchased Nashville and Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion! Both were 40% off but I also was able to use the 30% coupon (but actually it wasn't used!). The cashier was having "one of those days" so she ended up "forcing" a 30% discount for me on one of the titles and thus the coupon was never effectively used! That means I still have a chance to use this again (and I might do it on the World Cinema Project box set).

I got lucky... and since its the holiday season, the cashiers don't want to be stingy, so they are going ahead with whatever extra coupons/discounts they're being presented with 'round here. So a forced 30% discount sure is nice!

No particular focus calendar-wise, or country-wise, usually go for most anything that might interest me. (Gotta stop that though )

I must ask this question here since I think it is valid.

Is the Martin Scorcese World Cinema Project box set worthy of a blind-buy purchase?

I'm leaning towards buying this but would like to hear other people's thoughts.

Was that article sub-titled 'and by 'forever' we mean 'for about ten years'?

It's a fantastic film. My second favorite from its decade. Though for some reason my interest in Testament is very muted, even though I own the film. I would like to get around to it soon though.

Now, I really enjoy Cult Films. Maybe because in the pre-internet era there was a genuine sense of discovery when you actually found these films in an art theater or on a bootleg tape. Damn I'm Old!

Anyway, I liked Seconds but I also enjoyed the John Randolph performance more than the Rock Hudson one.

Yeah, at one point in the film I actually thought I had missed something since the momentum of the film is almost randomly is misdirected.

After reading and realizing I got the right idea of the film I raised my Letterboxd rating to a 3.5/5. I thought it was beautifully directed and written. There was one shot that I absolutely loved:

[Show spoiler]the shot of the elderly couple coming out of the church with the two behind them was amazing. I think it was trying to show correlation between the two.

Just watched Frances Ha and loved it like most of Noah's movies. I may have to grab the bluray at some point.

Still yet to watch my new purchases, Carlos, Salo and Three Samurai. I have a lot of Zatoichi films to get through first

I am really interested in grabbing Blowout but know zero about it...
