Back to the Future trilogy and Avatar extended edition both are still sealed. I do plan on watching them soon. I also have a lot of Disney movies I still haven't watched on blu ray.

Sometimes, I'll buy so many blu-ray's and file them in my collection and forget they're there until much later

I upgraded a lot of my DVDs to Blu-ray, but I have no time to watch the Blu-ray. There were even a few DVDs that I never got to watch, and I had to discard them when I replaced them with the upgraded blu-ray edition.

If I had a rule to watch everything that I buy, then that would take years to complete.

I'm not sure I understand the topic. Is this about films we've purchased but just haven't gotten around to watching yet, or, like the one guy said, films we bought that we thought we'd like but found we couldn't stay awake while watching them?

It's simple. You bought it, but you have no desire to watch it. A good example would be if you bought "The Godfather Trilogy" a couple of years ago and still haven't gotten around to watching it. I'd say in that example, your desire to watch The Godfather is pretty low.

Made that mistake back when I collected DVDs. I am pretty selective now when it comes to what I add to my collection. Surprisingly, now that I am more selective the majority of my collection is made up of classic/older films.

It happens, of course. See? You can't get around human psychology - sometimes people buy things they don't really want and then wind up wondering why they bought them in the first place. Heck, sometimes people buy things they do want and have always wanted and still are not able to enjoy them as much as they expected. But...

There's nothing to worry about. Just save that kind of stuff for a later date, and one day, when suddenly you find it lying around somewhere gathering dust, you'll go, "Hey I need to watch this". It'll come as a nice little surprise for you.

I've bought a few that I've already seen and know I like, but I have a handful of ones I've never seen, and want to, yet still sit on the shelf.

Solaris, The Life And Death Of Colonel Blimp, The Devils Backbone, One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, Godzilla, Le Cercle Rouge.

I think this thread is for Criterion collectors?

Certain films I might put off until Im in the right mood to watch them but Id never leave something unwatched lying around for months as it would prove you dont really want it.

Right now I have no unwatched films in my collection which is quite good going given the amount of football and American football Ive had to watch as well as everything else!

Then why would I buy it?

If I buy it, I'm going to watch it within a week or 2 of it arriving. Otherwise, I would consider myself a little bit .
+1. I certainly watch it within a month. Whats the point otherwise?

+1. Got to collect all those spine numbers and have them matching! Who are they 'impressing' though? Some people on the net? Who cares apart from you really? Awkward questions hmmm?

Its like those annoying people with book collections who havent read hardly any of the books on show of course.

Don't you just hate when people spend their own money the wrong way?

I occasionally buy a movie when I have the urge to watch it, only to find the urge has subsided by the time the movie's arrived. I'll be back in the mood someday!

That happens to me more often than I'd like.

Or after I watch the BD once, I don't feel that I would want to watch it again.

So I regularly sell off discs like those.
