I want special features on II-V, if they do that I will gladly pay upwards of $100!

But I know they won't...

I just don't understand that. Rocky V isn't usually a fan favorite, but I can't wrap my head around liking the other five but hating this one so much that you'd want to throw the disc away. This isn't like Alien Resurrection or Superman Returns. This film is still very much connected to the rest of the series and I don't understand why people hate it so much. It's got some powerful moments (the Mickey flashback is one of the best sequences of all the movies) and I think story wise it really was a natural take on where someone like Rocky would be at this point in his life and career. And for those who didn't like it as a send off to the series, Rocky Balboa settled that issue pretty damn well.

Also, I'm amazed they didn't come up with some limited edition "Paulie's Robot" packaging or something.

+ 1. IMO It might not be as entertaining or as memorable as Rocky III or Rocky IV, but IMO its a better directed film.

As Good As It Gets made $314 million worldwide and Sony let Twilight Time release it on Blu-ray (3,000 copies).

I do like Rocky V. I just don't understand the hate for it. Sure, it ain't the best film ever but neither does it deserve a critical mauling.

Yep, they got John G. Avildsen back behind the camera. It's got a decent soundtrack too.

I'd consider the heavyweight collection if they were all remastered but I doubt that is the case. Although I think they all look pretty good to great video-wise except for Rocky II. Otherwise the undisputed collection is pretty solid in my mind.

I found this over at Walmart.

Quote:
8mm Home Movies of "Rocky" (1975) Narrated by Director John G. Avildsen and Production Manager Lloyd Kaufman, "In the Ring" - Three-Part Making-of Documentary, Behind-the-Scenes Featurettes: Makeup, Music, Directing and Camera Work, Boxing Featurettes: "Three Rounds with Legendary Trainer Lou Duva", "The Opponents" and "The Ring of Truth", "Tributes: Burgess Meredith, James Crabe", "Interview with a Legend: Bert Sugar", Video Commentary with Sylvester Stallone, Sylvester Stallone on "Dinah!" (1976), Theatrical Trailers, TV Spots and More.

Subtitles: English SDH (Subtitles for Deaf and Hearing Impaired), French and Spanish, "Rocky V" is Rated PG-13, All Other Films are Rated PG.

What's weird is that Rocky: Heavyweight Collection is now available for pre-order at Walmart, DVD Empire and Amazon Canada, and, yet, there's still no sign of individual release of the first one.

Mind you, in addition to the box set, Europe is also getting individual/separate release of remastered Rocky.

Well I'm not paying anywhere close to $50 for that whole set, so if the separate movie isn't released in the states I guess I'll have to import.

Will the 3 audio commentaries for Rocky 1 be included in the new set? That was the only thing they left off in the Undisputed Collection.

Agreed and I suppose it might even drop in price a bit more?

I've always had an extreme dislike for Rocky V. I've watched it a few times since I first saw it in the theater just to be sure, but I'm sure. I wish it had never been made.

To me, it's a mess of a movie. It lacks focus, heart and is missing everything that makes the others (especially 1 and 2) great. It also gets sidetracked with his son's own personal trials. But worst of all, Rocky doesn't have any fights or anyone to fight until the street brawl at the end. His son is whiny, the acting generally seems bad all around, it's ugly looking and had a horrible soundtrack. It also seems unbelievable how he just lost it all (I know they said Pauly screwed it up) and they had nothing left and no one could help them. I mean, Rocky just returned from Russia, a hero and now he can't even get some promo deals or something? It seemed like a lazy excuse to make them poor again.

Besides, Stallone originally wanted Rocky to die at the end of the movie so what does that tell you? I also believe he's stated that he's not pleased with the film and believes it was a mistake.

It's clearly inferior to the rest and I've never had it as part of my collection and never will. I'd like to forget it ever happened. Just my 2 cents.

What news is that for us who have current TVs and Blu-ray players. Does that mean we will not be able to view a 4k transfer unless we have a 4k TV and a 4k blu-ray player.

No. A 4K master means exactly that. Why is this so confusing to so many people? There is still no 4K format.

That's incorrect.
