Can't wait for Freedom to tell us how it's going to suck because it's from the Title Supervisor of Narnia 3.

I am starting to get excited for this. 1 photo and 1 paragraph and I'm sold! LOL.

These movies take forever to get here.

C'mon Marvel you can manage 1 'medium size' hero movie every year--do they all have to be $175-220 mil?

If the Black Panther movie were NOT to involve the possible 'end of the world' it could be made for $130 mil--no?

And a really good version of the "Western" Ghost Rider (night rider) could be made for a third of the Lone Ranger and be three times as good.

3 movie per year April/May, July/August and November/December!

I know, "keep dreaming"

Well...Never say never. The one shots are just a start at doing other things. They've been kicking around lower budgeted films, as well as some darker, R-rated fare...So, we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Well Daredevil, Iron fist and the other characters that are going to be on cable would have been suited to medium budget movies, but I'm glad we'll be getting some darker edgier stuff on TV sooner rather than later.

But there are still lots of characters left that might fall into the medium budget category.

Inhumans will be expensive no doubt, Dr Strange--? not sure how the budget will be for that..........

I'd really love to see them try Namor--especially because setting the movie partially in the ocean would be a real change of pace----but that sounds expensive too!

Ka-Zar would be expensive if they felt the need for lots of prehistoric creatures.......

Hmmm, perhaps there aren't that many candidates for moderate budget outings

As for the "Western Ghost Rider"---I imagined a whole framing sequence where someone would be telling the story of him as "the true first Super-hero" and we would be able to have a slight connection to the modern heroes------and then Lone Ranger had the terrible framing sequence that made it hugely unlikely anyone would use that again anytime soon--especially a western.

Production stills only tell us so much. Sometimes they aren't the most flattering, and things like fine on film. I think it'll end up being fine when all is said and done. They look better in the footage, in my opinion.

I'll tell ya, I much prefer reading about upcoming Marvel properties than Warner/DC. The hate in Supes vs Bats and the criticism every casting choice gets is mind numbing. It's like polar opposites in Marvel threads (of upcoming properties I speak of only, once it's released, they get trashed like everything else )

Sign me up. Haven't hated a Marvel Phase x yet.

What? You haven't heard of the Mandarin farce? Hahaha.

Honestly, I'm bored with The Avengers. I've seen enough of Iron Man and Thor. And Guardians of the Galaxy are the much needed new faces I'd love to experience on the big screen and yet still play a large role in the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Disney/Marvel don't even have the rights to Namor. Universal still has it. Has had it for ages.

I don't know what Marvel did when they signed those rights away.... but I would hope someone got hell for it.

Since Universal still retains the character rights, video game rights, etc... and has never made a movie.

They also still have the rights to Hulk but they gave them up for simple distribution rights----which is why only the Incredible Hulk Blu-ray is from Universal instead of paramount/Disney.

If they would give up the right to make more Hulk movies for something as cheap as video distribution they would give up the much less famous Sub-Mariner as well for similar compensation.

Also, all of the deals had time limits built in. So if Universal is up against it, as it must be at this late date, it has 3 choices....

1. Make a quality, big budget Namor movie in a stand alone universe where they have the rights to no other heroes--and hope it's a smash?

2. Make a low or moderate budget movie to preserve the rights----but for what, to try again later with option one?

3. "loan" the character to the MCU in exchange for theater and home video distribution rights as they did with Hulk.

I think option 3 is by far the best bet Universal has for getting a decent profit out of the situation.

Realistically after a first solo Namor movie what the fans would really want is to see him share the screen with IM, Thor and especially the Hulk.

Absolutely heard of it, but that was once again, bashing (deservedly or not) after it was released IIRC. Everything gets bashed once it is released and everyone gets to see the whole thing. But Marvel seem to stand up when it comes to movies in development. This movie vs MoS2 ...MoS2 thread is full of criticism, but Not so much here.
