I just think wishlists belong in the wishlist forum, plain & simple. You can still enjoy the interaction, just not at the expense of all the other members that subscribe to this thread to receive SF info...not member wishlists. |

As for going region free, I survived DVD without going region free, don't see the need now either. Just about every DVD eventually got a release here just like I'm sure just about every Blu will. Region Free players can be found at a reasonable price but they're still more money for a good one. And when Blu is dying out, they will be even harder and more expensive to find. I don't want to not be able to watch half my collection because I can't find a region free player. Not to mention the convenience of playing the discs in multiple players throughout the house, being able to lend discs to family and friends, ect. I get why some people love being region free, but I don't get the anger towards those that don't want to. Just because it was released in the UK doesn't mean it shouldn't be released here. As for Arrows releases being superior, Synapse's Demons releases, Blue Undergrounds Deep Red, ect. beg to differ. |

Anyway, I'm not holding my breath. Whether they arrive on this side of the pond or not, I'll survive. It's just that if they do, I'd like to see Scream Factory release them. I've got no idea of when or if Scream Factory will cut another deal with MGM, but hey, if does happen, well then those who want it can cross our fingers and toes and hope for the best. I don't feel the need to go region-free and yet every time I post a wishlist, it gets served up on a silver platter. No more wishlists? Well then fine, I won't do them anymore. It's all just for fun anyway. Quote:

I'll add my two cents to this: I think going region free is very beneficial for film fans, as it gives you many more options in terms of picture quality, special features, etc. That being said, however, I think it's pushed way too hard by some, and that most people will be perfectly happy with their local releases.

Yes. It's the same as the people on Facebook who say: "I can't believe nobody asked for Fright Night Part 2 yet..." without the slightest bit of sarcasm. Do a little bit of research and you'll have your answer.

Getting a region free player is a decision I don't regret, and one I'd certainly recommend to anyone that collects movies. With that said, I do understand why people don't go that route, and don't begrudge them for it. |

Absolutely agree. I don't know where I'll be next month - if something is available now or soon that's what I'll get, I'm not going to sit around and play a waiting game. I have all the Arrow MGM titles except Blow Out (have the Criterion) and they're all awesome. Arrow also goes a step further when it comes to packaging, which is a huge plus with me. Not knocking down Scream Factory, just saying I don't want to wait for an "eventual" release of something that is already out. |

I could be wrong but I took his statement to mean that the BDA should drop the region coding nonsense and I agree wholeheartly. Maybe the future 4K format will be region free but that's probably wishful thinking. Maybe we can reduce it from 3 regions to 2; one for China and another for the rest of the world.
![]() Yeah I thought*they* as in Scream Factory. It would make life easier if everything was Region Free. I know that Warner, Universal and Kino's movies are region free after playing them on my wonderful LG code free player ![]() |

Region coding is a very archaic thing now, what with so many region free releases, and with region free players becoming much more commonplace. I do think the Blu-Ray Forum, who are hard at work on a 4K BD media format as we speak, should consider dropping the regions altogether in favor of one region free standard.
