I just picked this up today @ HMV for $10

I couldn't believe it but I'm sure it was priced wrong

They probably got this mixed up with the original release, that goes for about $10 most places

Against my better judgement, I went ahead and ordered this. Well, shocked when I opened it up and to my surprise, no patch or lenticular. And, oddly enough, it contains the #18 age restriction on each side of the cover. And has reference to ultraviolet. And, on the back in small print it say http://www.warnerbros.co.uk on the back. WTF? Looks like I need to return this thing.

I did watch it to see how bad it is. Well, it didn`t bother me too much regarding the cropping. I barely noticed it. And, if it hand`t been for this forum and others, probably would have never noticed it. The color timing issue was the main thing that I noticed. But, again, I was only aware of it because of the forums.

The banquet scenes looked a little washed out on the faces. My dvd actually looked better. And, a few other weird things here and there where I preferred my dvd`s image over the blu.

Still waiting on the "definitive" version of ETD.

Snagged it at Best Buy the other day as that's probably close the best price we will ever see on this set until it gets released (if ever) in a standard case.

Frys has this for $14.99. You should be able to PM Frys.com at BestBuy and save an extra $4.

Frys doesn't even exist anywhere in my region. I do price match Amazon at Best Buy quite frequently though.

I don't have a Frys anywhere near me either, but Frys.com is on the list of websites that BestBuy has in their PM policy. So, you should be to PM them, and in they say they PM Frys.com, then show them their PM policy.

I did not know that at all. Thanks for the tip. I don't think Fry's is on the north east coast.

might be forced to buy this one. My 2007 BD (with A Warriors Journey doc) won't play on my Samsung BD player. I could've sworn it played on my Panasonic one....

A Warrior's Journey is now available on its own DVD (well, as a double feature with another Lee doc) so between that release and the 40th Anniversary EtD your old release is obsolete across the board anyway.

I just can't stand the colour timing on the 40th Anniversary EtD. That's why I am holding on to my 2007 edition.

Just had a look at this edition again, one year later: it truly is a grindhouse edition of EtD. Perfect encode showing all the grain, and I try, I mean I really try, to like the image ...

... but I just can't. :-/

All that contrast, softness, weird colour timing and cropping. :sigh:

Jaggies or that? Jaggies or that? Hmm.

It's one of the reasons I've kept all my versions of Lee's films. It seems they add and subtract with every new offering.

Meh, I don't mind it. I'd rather have grindhouse EtD than jaggiesville EtD. But neither is optimal, admittedly.
