Banshee Chapter was only released on 3D Blu-ray in Germany and Italy. Both editions include English audio and are Region B locked. All other releases worldwide are flat.
![]() ![]() Original post: Just in case you don't know about this it's a 3D horror film co-produced by Zachary Quinto about a journalist investigating some experiments performed by the US gov't and then it goes utterly creepy. It looks pretty good and the director confirmed it was shot entirely in 3D so we should expect decent depth and probably some pop-outs here and there. Sounds interesting. Nice it's filmed 3D too. Thanks KillerJuan.
Also looking forward to Dawn of the Dead Theatrical 3D version in 2014 hopefully. Rubenstein said it's aiming for Titanic 3D quality. That's a tall order, but could be awesome, though admittedly Romero's Dawn wasn't shot with 3D in mind so it'll be a challenge. |

For those who care, I just received confirmation that "The Banshee Chapter" 3D Blu-ray has been canceled:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-B...Blu-ray/82676/ I reached out to a rep at XLrator and they told me the following "There were initial plans to do so but then ultimately they didn't" |

Sad to hear of the cancellation of the 3D version of the Blu, but personally I found this particularly disappointing when watching in 3D. Without spoiling too much, the plot involves the MK Ultra experiments/conspiracy and so sounded really promising that it was shot in native 3D, but the finished product really doesn't take advantage of it - scenes where you'd expect to see the extra dimension really utilised lose out by the choice to use no additional lighting (which doesn't leave much!)
I did enjoy the film, but felt the 3D a missed opportunity... EDIT - maybe the 3D will remain for other releases, like Germany? Last edited by AndyJWS; 01-15-2014 at 10:23 PM. |

![]() Filming in 3D as live footage doesn't give time for adjustments with the interaxial (twin camera 3D rig) distance, so I'd imagine a lot of the wide open shots might have minimal/mild 3D as as result compared to closer up shots of characters, etc. Much like filming with a home video 3D camera I'd guess. Sorry to hear the 3D was underutilized. That might be part of the reason they chose not to offer a 3D version? |

I saw the film last night, but not in 3D. It's quite creepy in places, but considering the film has a rough, hand held shot on video look and features a lot of real and pretend archive footage, I can't see at all how this could work in 3D.
