Default HD DVD outselling BD on DVD Empire

Whoa what's going on here guys, I just checked dvdempire and found this:
Week of May 08th HD-DVD 60% vs Blu-ray 40%

Not looking good there... Is this a comeback from the HD-DVD camp or is no one ordering from this site... hopefully it's the last part since BD is selling 3:1 over HD-DVD.

Plain and simply...their prices are too high for the same thing you can get on other sites for much cheaper.

Those stats are what, for half a day? Did they sell 3 hd-dvds and 2 blu-rays so far today?

Those numbers are for last week and DVD Empire numbers are pretty close to that image-
Week of May 01st HD DVD-41.58% BR-58.42%

The May 8 numbers that show the 60/40 are not offical yet, I think the final number's are Tuesday.

DVD Empire is always a week behind. The week of May 8th for DVD Empire starts tomorrow. They always post some low Blu-ray sales figure at the start of the week, then wait another week to post Blu-ray won. I'm starting to believe they do it on purpose. Check back in a week for their final figures.

This seems to happen every other week. Then everyone celebrates as the numbers switch around.

DVD Empire has reversed the percentages. It's now 60% Bluray, and 40% HD DVD.

Is it unreasonable to think there won't a see-saw effect week after week as different titles are released?

For example, one week HD-DVD may have a major release one week while Blu-Ray has a few minor ones. I would expect that HD-DVD would probably outsell Blu-Ray for that week.

The week after that could be completely the opposite.

I think those who are following sales on a week by week basis and judge the leader of the format wars based on those numbers may want to look at monthly or quartlerly sales for a more accurate representation of "who is winning". Stressing over weekly numbers seems to be a recipe for headaches.

That's more like it I would hate to see HD-DVD winning a week.

This has been happening for the last couple months.

My understanding is that there is a quirk in their numbers around monday due to the fact they start counting on monday and the way they account for pre-orders and move then to shipping.

The best time to interpret results for DVD empire is during the weekend when the number reflects sales for most of the week.

Hells yeah!!! I love this graph. I used DVD empire a lot, but it is a much smaller scale. Thanks for the "real" update!

LOL

you cant just use dvdempire data, you need to use worldwide data.

It could be just dvdempire has the lowest price HDDVD.

RIP HDDVD, go blu Ray!

I look at the DVD Empire numbers from time-to-time - but have never bought from them. Amazon works out so much cheaper!
