No, What I'm trying to say is that this movie will show who she is and how and why she becomes the way she is.

No, it won't. It will not show the Maleficent of the 1959 animated feature. This is a re-imagining, where Maleficent is acting to defend her people and her kingdom from an invading king, and turns to dark powers out of defense, and places the curse on Aurora as a bargaining chip. Not the same character. At all.

Yep...which is why I'm not terribly interested...The more I see the trailer, the less I want to see it. Not sure why Disney needs to reimagine all their animated movies as of late...It's really starting to annoy...

Yes -- after he is beaten up in the third grade for being skinny and and uncoordinated, causing his school to lose a critical game of Red Rover, Young Princess Jasmine comes to Young Jafar's aid. No, You're misunderstanding what I'm saying. I know it won't show the Maleficent of the 1959 animated movie. The reason I said what I said before was because, like its storyline from imdb.com says.....

The "Sleeping Beauty" tale is told from the perspective of the villainous Maleficent and looks at the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse young Princess Aurora.

So, What that part of the storyline that's highlighted says, is basically that it will show how and why she becomes the way she is. Or more simply put, how and why she becomes evil.

Agreed. While it wouldn't have been any better, I would have had them rather do the original Sleeping Beauty story. It still wouldn't have been something I'd agree with, but it's better than trying to give Maleficent a back story.

I'm pretty sure everyone understands that. What they mean is they don't see a point in making this at all and we don't need to know what "hardened her heart and drove her to curse Princess Aurora". It's just Disney trying to make a quick buck...which won't happen.

I was initially intrigued until I learned they were going in the direction they went. Lost all interest after that.

Why shouldn't it happen though ? If they(Disney) have reason enough reason to make it then they will make it, which in this movies case they already have made it. I'm mean, sure, there have been a few Disney flops in the past such as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time , John Carter, The Sorcerer's Apprentice and The Lone Ranger to name a few. But I think they have learned their lesson by now, which is not to screw up on their movies and to have better budgets, scripts, etc.

Alice in Wonderland made a billion dollars, and with the PotC franchise in flux and a string of box office failures and disappointments, Disney is really hard up to strike that particular vein of gold a second time.

That's definitely true. Although, I have a feeling that the backstory in the movie, won't seem unnecessary once those of who plan on seeing it, have seen it.

Yes, Because now that all those movies that I mentioned of earlier had flopped, they now know what to do to not let that happen yet again.

Disney has Marvel and Pixar and their own animation studio to all give them at least 1 hit a year. What they really need is to figure out how to properly do blockbusters again, they seem to put out at least 1 really expensive dud every year.
